Care to theorize, I noted on the episode where hi is teaching Hiro, that the reflexion on the Katana was not of his own eyes... is he like Nikki/Jessica?
Hiro is not the dragon, as Action has reminded us. Kaito is the dragon, and Hiro is the real Kensei. Hiro alludes to this when talking to Yaeko in "Out of Time" just before he travels back to the present. You are correct, Cydog.
In regards to Kaito's ability, we know that he doesn't possess chronokinesis. He told Hiro that he never time-travelled in "Cautionary Tales," so that's eliminated.
I don't think he has Niki's ability of super-strength either (her multiple personality disorder is not an ability, as Bob has told us. It's really split-personality disorder). The reason I don't think Kaito has super-strength is because he could have beaten the poop out of Adam on the roof when Adam charged him. Kaito could have clotheslined Adam, but instead he took the full-force of Adam'stuff.

Well, back in episode 1, yes he would have fought if he could, in my opinion.
But this time around, now that Kaito found out from Hiro that he was going to die, it's obvious that he had to fulfill his fate and wouldn't fight.
There wouldn't be any difference in the situations, would there? Since Hiro was there, he was always there ... we just didn't know what was going on and didn't see him the first time the scene played out.
Yep, welcome to the wacky world of time travel. I mean, isn't this the culture that came up with hari kari, or whatever? Even before we knew Hiro had seen his father before his death, he had. Kaito basically machismoed himself up and let himself be killed; honestly, the way he "put up his dukes"? He had no intention of resisting. His time with Hiro had him resigning himself to fate.
I am very pissed though, because I still have NO FREAKIN IDEA WHAT HIS POWER WAS!!!!!!!!! All I can come up with is that he was like, an Uber Teacher. I mean, there is no way Hiro should've been able to defeat anybody in a swordfight, as he did against Kensei/Monroe, with the minimal amount of training he had.
I suppose it's one of those paradox things that we will never find out, but perhaps Hiro was there all along, we just didn't ever see it. But it's like when Present Hiro went back six months, or when Future Hiro came back to see Peter - if that event was there all along, then shouldn't Hiro have remembered it himself? Or is it because when Kaito died in the present timeline, or when Charlie celebrated her birthday in the present timeline, Hiro's encounter with them was not placed in the timeline of events until we physically saw it ourselves, which would mean at one point, Hiro was not there. Paradox paradox paradox lol.

It's kind of like this scene from The Matrix:
Oracle: I'd ask you to sit down, but, you're not going to anyway. And don't worry about the vase.
Neo: What vase?
[Neo turns to look for a vase, and as he does, he knocks over a vase of flowers, which shatters on the floor]
Oracle: That vase.
Neo: I'm sorry...
Oracle: I said don't worry about it. I'll get one of my kids to fix it.
Neo: How did you know?
Oracle: Ohh, what's really going to bake your noodle later on is, would you still have broken it if I hadn't said anything?
I always assumed that hiro slowed time for himself and his Father during his sword training, thereby giving them unlimited time to practice. Too bad the writers didnt think of that themselves, as they have said.
Thank you, Dragonball Z. Lol...
And hmm... "the power of Gods"... well, I mean, in all honesty it could be anything except chronokinesis. Kaito confirms that he's never time travelled before.
He also probably wasn't an empath, as he would have absorbed chronokinesis from Hiro.
The scene with Kaito and Adam on the roof proves that he could really have had any ability aside from the two above because of the fact that he would not have tried to prevent his murder no matter what (because Hiro told him he was destined to die that night).
This comes out of no where really, but I could definitely see Kaito being a pyrokinetic. That would be sweet. That's my theory. After all... dragons DO breathe fire...

So . . . how long did he slow down time? How long were they in that room? It takes a long friggin time to learn the use of a sword to do anything more than stabbing yourself in the foot. I'm sayin that Kensei/Monroe had grown up in the age of the sword, had been handling one for years. Either he really sucks at it and Hiro is a natural, or there was some sort of intervening factor: Kaito is the Uber Teacher. I'll believe it til I'm proved wrong.
