As some of you know,I´m from Argentina.Here,we can see "Heroes" at Universal Channel every Friday.
Well...I believed that I was the only fan in my country,but recently,I knew a guy who is a Heroes´ follower from the start,he told me that many BOYS (I don´t know why argentinian girls doesn´t seems to like it) are followers too.
Why do you believe that this serie has so much success around the world?
I think that´s because the characters and the story,it´s just addictive.And Hiro is the new sex symbol of the era! Heart

Hi Ana! Heroes (like Star Trek and very few other series) is truly iconic and archetypal.

In the MMORPG game "City of Heroes", there's an advertisement which says something like "There's a place where everyone can be a hero." We all want to be something bigger than ourselves, and for our lives to have deeper meaning and purpose. This has been the motivating force underlying fantasy since... well, since Gilgamesh or whoever did it first!

Heroes demonstrates the fact that ordinary people, living their daily lives and totally unprepared, can rise to heroism when the situation requires it.

We'd all like to think that if something like this ever happened to us, we'd have the courage of Hiro, the loyalty of Ando, the fatherly love of HRG, the intelligence and courage of Mohinder.

And we'd also like to believe that we would NOT be easily manipulated like Nathan, mentally unstable like Sylar, uncaring like Claude, etc.

In other words, we'd have the inner strength to use our abilities to change the world for the better. But perhaps we know ourselves well enough to recognize that we might be susceptible to the Dark Side, and to our own self-delusion and self-centeredness.

This is the basic premise behind all drama. If we succeed in overcoming our limitations and weaknesses, then the story is heroic fantasy. If we fail, it is tragedy. And the two choices have rarely been as thoroughly and entertainingly explored as they are in Heroes.

Karunya,I believe that the interesting personal life of all the actors who are involved in this project make this serie the best,at the moment...Like Masi Oka's career,Milo's old works or Hayden´s charisma (she´s so great! I want her to be my friend,hahaha)

Anamuse, Welcome to the boards.

This forum has really gotten an international flavor. It's a little known secret on this board that my nationality is not US (can you not tell by my name?), but I grew-up since I was a very little kid in the USA.

There are also many people here from England, other parts of Europe, even Australia and Japan.

I think "Heroes" has become an international hit because like Karunya said it has touched many themes that are universal, meaning, if you explored the myths or stories of the cultures of many different countries you would find similar ideas. For example, I look at Greek Mythology and look at ordinary people, and how the Gods supposedly always "fooled" with them, and either had children with them, or forced them to do things for them. But there are similar stories in Indian, Chinese and even Japanese mythology.

What is interesting to me is how "Heroes" tries to borrow from all of these places, from all around the world. Other than Star Trek, to my knowledge, it is the first show that I know to do this! It also looks like it's going to continue to do this with the casting of many actors who are "Latin" or "Latino" (meaning, they have a Hispanic heritage): Dania Ramirez. Also the character who will play her brother. Etc.

I think, for this and many other reasons, the show appeals to many many people around the world. That is a good thing.
