Here is my take on this subject:
Hiro does not yet have very good control of his power.
When he gets emotional, his power gets all glitchy and will not work for him well or not at all.
During that emotional scene where he was about to kiss Charlie, his power shunted him off to Japan. Why? Well.....Charlie was going to die anyway and the sudden understanding of the depths of his love for her caused him pain. His subconscious removed him from his pain.
He could not teleport himself back because he was an emotional mess.
It seems to me that everytime he gets excitable he has trouble using his power.
To use his power he needs to be calm and self-controlled.
If I am correct in this hypothesis, the coming weeks will show it to be so.
But I ain't betting money on it.<G>

Guess this is the right place to post this....
What if the cheerleader that was supposed to be saved was the one that actually died? I dont have much evidence to prove one way or the other but one thing I've learned is to expect the unexpected. the altercation at the highschool played out accordingly based on Isaac's predictions, down to the last scene with Pete on the ground in obvious need for help. if some sort of change in the future happened based on what Pete learned form Isaac it wasn't apparent. Everything happened as the paintings depicted. maybe, just maybe the "right" cheerleader did die.
unlikey, i know, just spitting out possiblities.
one other thing...
save the cheerleader, save the "WORLD". at present our train of thought is saving new york, not the world....things that make you go hmmmmmmm.

My reason for him kidnapping the SG's
I honestly believe that he was kidnapping them for the sake of claire's safety. we first see him take mat. he is thinking of claire while talking to him and mat picks up on it. We know that HRG knows of the list chandra had. we can assume he wants her name off of it and has that list as well. it possible he is looking for a SG that has worthy powers that he deems fit to help him save and/or protect claire. that my only assumption for him letting go mat and holding onto Isaac.
First off, have you ever noticed that Ted doesn't feel the effects of his radiation? If he were to go nuclear, he'd be the only one standing in what was left. I don't think he'd need Claire's regen ability to be able to walk away from what de would do. Now, if Sylar were able to 'harvest' this power, then there's no telling what he'd be able to accomplish. I think that he's a bit too "Jeffery Dahmer" for me, and I keep picturing him as some Hannibal Lecter frying up a new batch of brainfood and enjoying a stimulating meal.. That's my theory to Sylar, and Ted, however, it doesn't touch Byd's theory. I agree that HRG could've gone absolutely psycho if something had happened to Claire, but I think the main reason the world was saved by saving the cheerleader was that now HRG has a new target in mind: Sylar. With Sylar in his sights, the other heroes can now bind together and create a solid front, (think Justice League for lack of a better mental picture) and deal with the crisies that arise when needed. I just wonder what kind of control HRG really posesses, as he seems to have a ton of influence over heroes, and hasn't really manifested any himself (yet)
like others they belive that the cheer leader is not going to save the world, but the action of saving the cheerleader and its results will. I think HRG is the key. Skyler would have been caught regardless if claire was killed or not and yes if clair was killed HRG would probably go berzerk and take revenge on skyler. so my theroy is that skyler is the one that will save the world. This way HRG will train him insted of killing him. The other theroy is that... ummm ther named Eden and voodoo? may be trying to betray HRG. well theres my 2 cents. cause i know wrighters like fliping things at the last moment. Also i havent noticed any one mention peter in jail what will come of that do you think?
i think that Claire was the cheerleader was saved but the ony question is how did it save the word i think that the explosion in new york might be ONE of the bad things that happen but not the only one
By saving Claire, they have saved the world in this way:
Peter Petrelli is downtown NYC creating havoc because something suspicious happens to him which results in him wearing Sylar's coat, and possibly becoming the cause of the nuclear blast. Speculation on that is not the point.
However from the Canadian preview it is obvious the other heroes are running from Peter, notice DL, Micah, and Nikki running AWAY from the scene. Matt is in between them. Also notice Simone being held back from Peter by Isaac. All the heroes think or know something is wrong with Peter.
Then notice Claire running TOWARDS Peter, or basically in the opposite direction of DL, Nikki, and Micah.
She is the one who is going to save Peter, and NYC.

This is a great twist, because it shows the deadliness of an empath. You never know what exactly you are going to be channeling in. Who knows if Peter is going to be able to handle all the changes that his body will go through to cope with the change.. Maybe he'll end up like Sylar, and cause so much mutation that he becomes genetically unstable. There's quite a few things that could happen in this thread and at this point. I am peeved that Eden had to go, but her power in Sylar's hands could've been too much for any hero to resist, so it's good that she's gone. I can hardly wait for January.. Darn breaks, anyway!
From the show it appears that Peters body goes through a massive change as he absorbs the powers of everyone near him; in Peters "vision" this has cataclysmic consequences.
What if this would cause a massive explosion destroying Peter and everything around him? this would be the nuclear explosion we've all seen.
But what if his body could acclimate itself to hold all of those powers? Claires' power of regeneration may easily hold the key for Peter being able to safe to manifest everything at once?
-her powers may be the key to creating a being powerful enough to defeat a monster, or at the very least an opponent to equal Syler.
of course her powers may not have anything to do with this; Peter saved someone and proved to himself that he could make a difference. Claire was saved by a man sacrificing his own life and found there are true heroes out there, not just people with super abilities.
these realizations could enough to make the difference.
