It'll probably turn out that what I've said is completely and utterly wrong on every count. In fact, I'm probably blindly following what the writers intend me to believe until the point when they reveal that the opposite of all I've said is true.
Okay, Hiro wasn't born in 1962 (the time of the first eclipse), so his mutation MUST have come from his parents.
I am stating for the record here:
Nakamura Sr. DOES have a power. There's no evidence to suggest what that power is yet, as far as I can see.
He also DOES know that Hiro has a power. Yup, I've changed my opinion in light of this information. He's also been protecting Hiro from Primatech, whom he no longer works with/for or represents in any way. Probably.
Hiro was named for the attack on Hiroshima, in fact he's a child of that nuclear fallout.
The bomb was dropped in 1945,
how can Hiro be a child of that nuclear fallout?
He seems too young even to be considered a baby boomer.
If it is due to his father being exposed to radiation
Hiro's birth did not occur until many years afterward.

I am not sure if it's in the Wiki or what, but his grandfather was there, and his father and grandfather were both survivors of that attack. When I said he was a child, I did not mean he was born in that nuclear fallout or right after, I meant, his father's genome could have been affected from that fallout. But he got the name from Hiroshima...
Do we know that Hiro isn't the Japanese equivalent of Bob or Jim? Maybe it's a common name? I'm sure you can find out, eh Slippy?
With apologies to the WIKI, and I am quoting:
Quote:
Hiro is named after Hiroshima, so that his family will always remember the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki (The Crane). Tim Kring has been quoted as saying, "It's no coincidence we named him Hiro… he truly is on a hero's quest." To this end, his name is often used as a pun. His co-worker Ando once called him "Super-Hiro" in jest, which is actually similar to the Japanese word for superhero: スーパーヒーロー (sūpāhīrō), and the fifth episode is entitled Hiros.
Check it out yourself. Reference is made, that Hiro's power might be derived from his grandfather who was the Hiroshima victim...... I was off one generation.

Back in 1989 a friend of mine sponsored
a foreign exchange student from Japan named Hiro,
after Hirohito, the Emperor of Japan
who died later that same year.
He was a funny kid,
High School aged who chain smoked cigarettes
and listened to punk music
(I gave him a Dirty Rotten Imbeciles CD)
much to the dismay of his sponsor family.
When I told him I heard the Emperor had died
all he said was "Cool."
From what I gathered at the time
the shortened name Hiro
was not all that uncommen then.
Looking back at my earlier post
I may have sounded stronger than I intended to
about my confusion over Hiro being a child
of the nuclear A-Bomb Hercules.
I respect your posts
and if you are quoting from the shows creators and writers
then they definitely have the last word.
Even if it doesn't make a great deal of sense right now...
First post and all, I hope this is in the right place... if not, holler and I'll post it elsewhere!
I think Hiro's dad does have a power. I think that he is the Samurai (who's name I forget) that he used to tell Hiro about when he was a kid... therefore I think his ability is slow ageing or immortality (not that he can't die, but he can't die by natural causes)?
The reason I think this: In episode 22, he says something to Hiro along the lines of "I've waited along time for someone to demonstrate they had power, I never thought it would be you"...
... Now, as far as we know, Mr Nakamara has 1 son (Hiro) and 1 daughter... he may have more, but we'll assume it's just what we've seen. His statement to Hiro then seems confusing, as you would assume he was talking about his offspring... so maybe he has lived since the time of the ancient Samurai (because he is the ancient samurai)... and has had many offspring through the ages... none of which have ever demonstrated power like Hiro, despite their early promise?
Any way, just me 2cents... maybe I've watched too much Highlander
I thought we hadn't seen the last of Mr Nakamura yet
and I was very happy with his appearance in episode 22.
George Tekie was an excellent choice for the role
and he did an amazing job in this episode.
The writers really did an outstanding job bringing all this together,
giving us that cool training session between father and son
was simply a wonderful treat for the eyes.
Actually Stone. I'm seeing Kaito as someone akin to Yoda. He's made a reference to waiting a long time for a Nakamura to ascend. The Nakamura line has quite a few folks in it, and "long time" for me means lifetimes.. After all, with all the Nakamura's in the world, you'd think that one of them would catch his attention!
Plus, add the fact that the eyes in the last part of the finale looked quite a bit like Kaito's eyes in the final episode, and you've got the makings of an interesting story.
I'm just wondering if Kaito's going to live long enough to go space exploring?
