Sister, maybe you should become a super hero: Super Therapist! Really, I can't imagine total strangers giving you the lowdown on their lives like that.
You would be amazed at what people are willing to tell you if you are willing to listen
That my friend is so true, I knew someone who only tell starngers his problems and they were pretty big, he would just I guess in a way confess and these people would listen.
IDK you keep comparing Rogue to Peter. Peter Mimics powers doesnt STEAL them. Rogue TAKES the powers away from someone to use them through Physical contact.

Peter assimilates powers based on vacinity.
But it accomplishes the same objective of one person being able to use the abilities of others. It shouldn't matter how they are acquired.
Yes she is mimicing the power because it's not hers. It doesn't matter if she steals it for a short time, she is still taking on the ability of others. It's the same thing just gone about in different fashions. Their power isn't completely gone from them either, just temporarily drained.
It's a good point. Rogue doesn't steal either, unless under prolonged exposure, i.e. Ms. Marvel. She borrows, but with the added disadvantage of draining the others (okay, victims) power/strength in the process. And I think that Peter does the same. Case in point: remember, Nathan said that he couldn't do it on his own when Peter was falling?
This should be cross-posted to Hero Characters, Powers, and Weaknesses, methinks, since it went from the character's relationships to Peter's power.

This theard refuses to move...it needs SUPERHIRO!!
As soon as human kind began telling stories we began to make up special or super powers for our heroes. The difference is how origional the telling of the story is, and that is what makes Heroes a good show. I like that it is being taken from a genetics point of view and not a magical or mystical experience.
And for the record, Rogue is often catagorized as a mimic. She also does a life drain when she takes on powers, but the fact that she can mimic them temporaraly makes her a mimic. Also she dosen't steal powers per say, folks don't loose them for good, she just borrows them a while. She absorbes thier memories and physical strength as well.
Peters powers are more like Mimic, the other X-men. He could mimic those near him. So if someone is just like another, then it is those two for sure.
I was thinking Phoebe off of Charmed. She is able to channel the powers of others. Although it is approached from a magical perspective, the principle seems similar to me.
