Looks like the guys at NBC have forgotten about us Heroes nuts in that "shadow world" known as "anywhere that's not the USA" ...

From Heroes-TV
OpenTV Corp has announced that it will be powering interactive elements tied to US broadcaster NBC’s new prime-time show, Heroes. Called ‘Participate’, the new platform is a Web-based application that synchro-nises with the live broadcast of the TV programme to facilitate viewer interaction via online polls and predictions during show time.
OpenTV is currently working with CableLabs to enhance the system for the broadcast and interactive elements to be aired on split-screen on TV.
Although the system will be hosted at OpenTV’s data centre, NBC will have full control of the creation and management of the interactive content. The system’s speed and flexibility will permit NBC to try out new ideas on-the-fly, said OpenTV.
“The OpenTV Participate solution presents NBC.com with important new options for live two-screen interactivity, [for which]... a show like Heroes, which has an audience seeking a rich, multi-platform viewing experience, would be ideal,” said Jon Dakss, NBC’s director of iTV technology product development. |
Okay, so it's another aspect of the show that us international fans will miss out on.
I only get to participate in the ARG because it's NOT restricted to the US.
Of course, if I stuck to the UK broadcast schedule, participating in the ARG would be confusing for me at best.
I'm seriously thinking about petitioning NBC for a synchronised (by the date, not the hour) global airing of season 2, so the rest of the world doesn't have to miss out on the action. |

| Yea that really does seem unfair to people outside the U.S. They really need to see that the Heroes fanbase extends beyond that of America. Anyway, we have our live chat every episode so hmph to them. |

Even though I live in the US I would sign a petition... Slacktivism is the best, you get to get a "warm fuzzy" without having to make any kind of sacrifice or do any work!
Seriously, though, does anyone have any idea WHY the airings are delayed so much? I would think from an economic standpoint that it would be bad to limit yourself to 1/20th of the global population. |

Right, which two funny-guys voted the third option? LOL.
The Blob - I think the delay in international uptake of the better TV shows to come out of the US is a holdover from the days when we used proper film, and it had to be packed up into steel canisters and transported across the atlantic by boat.
It's like cheques, you know? In this age of instant communication and verification, why can it still take up to two weeks for a cheque to clear to a building society account in the UK?
Your answer in both cases "It's the way we've always done it."
I hereby unleash the battle-cry of the MTV generation.
"Meh." |

Why should I care if you see the show with the rest of us? After all, there's youtube, and you can watch it there the next day. So unless you've really got a problem with day-old programming, I think you need to rethink your priorities Slippy. The country that made the 'Smartcar', and feels the gasoline should be better known as Petrol, and that folks should drive on the wrong side of the road isn't on my list of folks that really need a good broadcast like Heroes!
(kidding!)
Rant aside, I'd have to say that I agree. You folks should have access to the shows as much as we do, if only so I can shoot down your more recent theories a day earlier than normal.. |
