I believe her alter-ego for lack of a better term is the form of Nikki that acts out on the things she would "like" to do, but won't due to her conscience.
I wonder if it will be in any way similar to what some children who have been horrible abused will do. They disassociate and create alter personalities which emerge to take charge when the original person is unable to do so.
You are right in that Niki 2.0 isn't evil. I chose the wrong term when I said that. One Niki is trying to do her best to follow along, while the other Niki comes out to "take care of business".
I am guessing the two will eventually merge. Would that make a Niki 1.5?
I do not think that they are different physically. We have not seen that section of flesh in Nikki 1.0 to determine if there is or isn't a tattoo there.
This symbol...
a) Indeed it seems like half of a DNA double helix, so it might as well be related with the genetic mutation.
b) all these appearances of the symbol make it sort of non-natural, kind of a human (or alien) design, making me think about genetic manipulation rather than to natural evolution of determine specimens. Maybe Patient Zero is not about first element to be studied, but first to be changed.
c) Even if Nikki 1.0 has not the tattoo and Nikki 2.0 has it, that doesn't mean they are 2 different bodies. Tattoo may appear and disappear as a seal (kind of when a led is lit on in an electronic device). It would'nt be the first case of that in sci-fi panorama.
d) What about Nikki 2.0 only appears when a mirror is near. What if Nikki 2.0 can only trespass the frontier and take control of Nikki 1.0 when 1) Nikki 1.0 is in emotional situation ans 2) Nikki 2.0 can see it through a mirror ? And more... what if at some point Nikki 1.0 gets trapped in a mirror that brokes and Nikki 2.0 keeps controlyng the body until Nikki 1.0 appears in another reflection?

well, one thing that makes me wonder, why is Isaac killed in his own apartment by slyar (my guess, looking at his head) ? I thought the future Hiro could do anything. Then why not future Hiro (too long, let's name him Hiro 2.0) came back to the past and stop sylar ? Unless Hiro 2.0 is on the dark side too, trying to make sure that everyone gets to Claire, while Isaac is left behind alone, and killed by slyar. Yeah.. gory.. awesome~

Different time lines. When hiro 1 goes forward in time he see's isaac dead, but then he goes back in time. Then hiro 2 come back in time to talk to peter, i would assume that whatever that changes, it also changes isaacs death...maybe. Or maybe future hero doesn't want to mess with that part of the time line? after all maybe its better that isaac dies and doesn't become evil in the future? hehe. Either way we don't know if isaac is still going to die or not!
Follow mw on this. maybe since Peter has been using Isaac's power he is syphoning it, and when Isaac's death occours he learns that with the Death of a hero he keeps their power??? That would cause him to kill other heroes to keep there powers.... Hummmm... Feel free to take this theory off the deep end.
