Don't drag race into it! He didn't get on because Claire lifted his boarding pass. He probably called Linderman (and Peter's mom) and got him to send a private jet. Also, he knew exactly where he was going...Claire had to look for the address.
I wouldn't think the Petrellis would have the resources for a private jet - not if Nathan needed campaign money from Linderman....they coulda just sold the plane!

Speaking of that, though... Nathan and Mama Petrelli shared the secret about Papa Petrelli's death. And even though Peter is Mama's "favorite," it seems that Nathan and Angela maybe closer only in regards to some of Nathan's endeavors. So do we think that Mama Petrelli knows her son can fly? And if so, do we think that Nathan knows that Mama knows that he can fly?
In regards to the whole "favorite son" thing that Mama told Peter in episode two, what if she said this/feels this way this because Nathan had something to do with leaving Claire/Meridith for dead, and maybe she found out about it and immediately thought poorly about Nathan and his decision (thus forcing her to work with the Hatian in order to keep Claire safe). Now I'm just going of on a tangent, as usual... lol. What does everyone think?

I think Peter may have told her that Nathan can fly, if he tried to explain to her why he jumped off the building the first time.
Mrs. Petrelli may have different relationships with her two sons. Her relationship with Nathan is more about his accomplishments, and I get the feeling that Peter is the "baby" of the family. That doesn't mean she loves one more than the other.

Interesting ... I think if that were so, she might have encouraged Nathan to reconnect with Meredith and Claire, instead of telling him to stay out of Texas. Unless she just wrote Nathan off as Claire's father and figured he didn't deserve to be involved.
Angela has her own plans for Claire, beyond keeping her safe. She may have affection for Claire (as much as she can, considering they've never met), but I'm sure she wants something else, too. Heck, Meredith may have plans for Claire, too - she's already gotten a fair bit of cash out of her.
Working for Primatech, I'm sure the Haitian would have no shortage of ID's! I think my sequence is still pretty likely to have been the case.

Nice, Pay, lol. Going back to the whole Angela knowing Nathan's powers idea, I definitely think she knew, probably even before Nathan/Peter knew themselves. I then began to wonder if Nathan knew that his mother knew, and that it might have been an unspoken secret between them. Furthermore, I then began to wonder if Nathan knew about the Haitian... but of course, the initial answer to that is no. My Charlie memory kicked in and reminded me that Nathan confronted HRG/Haitian when they tried to kidnap him.
However...
...now that I think about it, there still is a possibility that Nathan and the Haitian knew each other at the time. When Nathan escaped HRG/Haitian's grasp in Chapter 5, they chase after him. Who's to say that if Haitian and Nathan knew each other, that the Haitian didn't actually give Nathan the chance to fly away by hesitating a little when HRG said "put him down." If Hatian is connected to Angela Petrelli, then I'm sure he knows who Angela's sons are, obviously.
The only hint we are given in regards to Nathan not knowing the Haitian occurs in the episode when Nathan visits Peter at his apartment regarding the painting Linderman bought. Nathan tells the story about HRG/Haitian to Peter, and it sounds as if he is genuinely worried that there are people out there trying to kidnap people like him and Peter. On the other hand, this type of mentality could be a decoy of sorts to discourage Peter from using his powers and possibly ruining the campaign.
So... do we think that Nathan was playing along with Haitian in Chapter 5 until he had his moment to escape, thus showing that the two of them knew each other? Or do we think that Angela has kept her connection to the Haitian a secret even from Nathan?

While I do agree that it's what she felt Peter needed to hear at the time, I don't agree that every, or even most mothers, would say that to their kids while the others are not around.. lol... that's just borderline cruel, Slip. Haha Once I asked my mom who she loved more, and she said she loved both my sister and I the same... lol, but this is a completely different topic of discussion *cough* back to "Season 1!" *ahem*
With regards the idea that Nathan might/might not know the Haitian.. remember, the Haitian's powers. There is always the chance that at some point Nathan's memory was wiped, so that he doesn't remember who he is.
Within that thought... maybe, just maybe.. at some point Nathan knew that (and this is theorising big time) Lindermann was his dad, but was mind wiped... (would he go THAT deep though.. so maybe bad idea.
With regards Peter:Sylar.. Peter definitely has the upper hand. He has been trained (and it seems for all purposes that it's paid off) to have full control of his powers, turning on and off when he likes regardless of emotional state (remember in Nathan's office just after Simone dies - although he is rather emotional then.. - he turns on and off between invisibility-visibility...) I think, and it's been touched on, that Peter is still in the process of allowing his abilities to become his own. Where Sylar generally seems to know what ability he is taking, Peter kind of gets them randomly and figures them out often through trial and error (he dives off the building, assuming he is going to die, before he finds out about Claire's healing ability), and i think for Peter he still has to think about what ability he is going to use - it's not second nature yet (although it's getting there) - remember in his 'learning time' when he gets chucked off the building, he only kicks in his healing when he really has to.. as has been said, I think Sylar cutting his head will hopefully shock him into action.
As has been linked to already - the preview on the front page of this site - if you look carefully, you see a hand twitch just before sylar does a kind of double-take, and then cut to peter, bloody head, with someone floating towards him seems to point to Sylar thinking he's killed peter, but then Peter revives (kind of like Claire with the stick in her head?) and goes all ape on his b-hind.. - can't wait to see it though! WOW!!
Anther thing - someone mentioned it earlier - is Sylar the first supergenome to be found, or the first super that Mohinder's dad found? because i assume people like Claude has been around, knowing of their abilities for a LOT longer!
Lindermann:Angela.. Someone theorised that Lindemann may be against the Company, but we've seen so far that men in power more often are with the company (eg Hiro's father, etc) - I have a suspicion, the reason Lindemann knows so much is because he is really the head of the company. He is a gangster/wealthy mafia-type - odds are he has his ear to the ground, and from his seeming interest in Isaac's paintings etc - we've been given hints as to his involvement for a long time now..
Nikki:Jessica. As with Isaac, (and with all the Supers) it seems that their abilities are based on their DNA, not their addictions or psychological makeup, and therefore I think, that like Isaac initially assuming that his abilities only came through drug use, Nikki will realise that she has the abilities, and that Jessica brought it out in her simply because Jessica is prone to it. I think as Nikki learns to take control, she will slowly get over her alter ego altogether (maybe), but I doubt she'll ever 'lose' her powers- it's been hers all along, so far she's needed Jessica to utilise them, but I think she'll realise soon enough that she doesn't need Jessica anymore..(that is a possibility, except that I think the split personality makes her a whole lot more interesting than simply being a strong, sane Nikki)...
I love HRG, and the way he struggles being a 'man of mystery' and the love he clearly has for his family and especially Claire, and how he has grown from being the strange 'bad guy' to having emotions and being a more well-rounded character. I do think it's a bit short sighted of him, as a person in his position for so many years, to not see the chance of the company setting him up as they did.. although I think the years of hiding everything from his family, and finally being able to be open and honest with his wife, especially in the light of just losing his 'daughter' would have clouded his judgement, and made him careless.
as an aside, I wonder if 'Missy' ever has flaws in her apparitions..
I feel sorry for Matt.. he seriously has had a run of bad luck.. and all he wants to be is a good cop and good husband.. but i suppose, such is destiny...
Personally i like the way the plot is moving, it's slowly 'zooming out' from thinking HRG and the Haitian are the worst there is, to finding they were just puppets in a bigger game, and that both are more than they seem is a great.
(as an aside, from - i think episode 16 - where Claire try to stop the nuclear guy from blowing up her house - i love (and I know this is for obvious reasons) but I love the way half her face is blown away, but her clothing is still intact in the places it counts.. hehe.. bending the laws of nature for censorship - gotta love it.. haha

I totally agree in regards to the whole Nathan/Haitian situation. Even though we've discovered that Angela and Haitian are in cahoots, we still don't know to what extent Angela has had him use his powers, and she may have very well had Haitian erase the minds of Nathan/Peter one, or many times. Definitely a possibility...
In terms of Peter and learning to control his abilities, I wonder if his body will become adapted to, for example, healing whenever it takes damage (as Claire's body does). Meaning, will Peter always have to think of Claire anytime he needs to heal, or is it possible for Peter's body to one day recognize the fact that Peter always heals after experiencing physical pain, thus it builds that into its involuntary set of actions?
As for the scene in the preview with Sylar floating towards Peter, I'm thinking that it is just a camera trick meant to throw us off. What I really think is happening is that it's actually Sylar being thrown across the room by Peter (using telekinesis), and NBC/Kring reversed the clip so that us theorists wouldn't figure out what is actually happening. But alas, Kring, you have many a theorist here at the Superhiro forum with the power to uncover any tricks you've hidden up your sleeve

With regards Peter's body automatically beginning to react to situations, I think we've seen this already, where his body seems to manifest abilities without him even realising he had them.
We don't know exactly what happened, but the first time Peter flew - he couldn't remember, Nathan had to tell him about it, which either means Pete hit his head hard when he crash-landed, or his body subconciously enabled flight - but this isn't a good example.
I think a better example, is his use of telekinesis against Sylar the first time in the school. At that point, he thought he could fly like his brother - and at that - only very haphazardly - but when he had doors flying at his head, he instinctively moved them.
And again - using Claires ability - I think he does say he thought about Claire or something just before he landed ( i can't quite remember ) - but he gets a spike through his chest, and kind of just gets up, without seemingly thinking much more of it - but I do think this was when he 'realised' how he called the powers.
Speaking of Claire's ability, someone was talking about her ability to withstand pain - but it almost seems like it doesn't hurt - at the most it's a slight discomfort (unlike Wolverine, for example, who whinces and feels the pain when he gets cut or stabbed, etc, but regens quickly enough that it doesn't stop him) - so it seems that along with the healing ability, there is a lack of pain - which makes sense, as pain is the bodies way of telling you that something is seriously wrong (if you cut your hand, or get stuck in a nuclear storm, for instance... ) it would then make sense that Claire doesn't feel anything or it's just an annoyance, because there really isn't much danger if she gets 'hurt' and so the body wouldn't need to be warning her as intensely as it would if one of us were in the same position..
The great thing about Heros is that each person is a 'normal' person - they each have their own issues and superstitions, but also have an ability - which they often (incorrectly, i feel) attribute to certain things.
Like Nikki (/Jess) - Nikki, the person is super strong. but as i said previously, she ALSO has a split personality, and it's only that her split (Jess) is predisposed to violence, and therefore she's had more need of it.
But Isaac is the same (and I think Peter proves this even before Isaac comes clean) - he doesn't need the drugs to 'see' (on a side note, I think the reason Isaac paints 'pretty pictures' and Peter draws stick men, has got nothing to do with the power, but rather with each's natural artistic skill)
Again, Hiro, Ando and the sword, psychologically, it seems that they are meant to walk together, although I am sure Hiro would be just as powerful on his own...
And so with Peter. He is still in the process of realising who or what he is and what he can do. Sylar is way ahead of him on this, but I suppose it's like any of us - most of the time, our potential for 'greatness' is great - and friends and family often see it, but it's our own inner battles and demons that inhibit us - the same i think with most of the heros - each one is fighting their own battles, for which their powers cannot help, as well as having to use their superpowers to 'save the world' and save lives.
It's an awesome -human- take on the super hero genre, and I love it. (hmm I think some of that may have been off-topic for this thread... sorry. )
