Heroes Season 2 Episode 6 "The Line"

Rickys Pub, Ireland
Peter and Caitlin have the expected 'im sorry your brother died', 'its not your fault' discussion. Peter discusses his plan to go to Montreal, while Caitlin insists on going because she was in the painting. Caitlin refuses to let him go alone, explaining that she wants to personally kill Ricky's killer.

Costa Verde High School
Claire is trying out for cheerleading, with two other girls. Debbie abruptly brings a stop to the tryout. May votest that Claire should be part of the team. Debbie bullies all the other cheerleaders to denying any of the three girls a spot on the cheerleading team. May speaks to claire, and explains that she doesnt know what debbie is up to. At this point, Debbie introduces herself back into the conversation, and says that Costa Verde cheerleaders need to be extraordinary, and that Claire simply is not "Extra- Ordinary".

Company HQ (Heartsdale New York?)
Monica is watching video of gymnastics on a big screen, performing everything she sees with perfect precision. Monica is tired, so asks to go home. Mohinder explains that they are trying to help, and says that there are others like her. This interests Monica, Mohinder clarifies that other people have different gifts, they dont know where they come from, altho they are traceable through genetic markers.

Bob interrupts, explains to Monica that he is head of operations and grabs mohinder off to another office. He asks if he has a 'reliable baseline' of what Monica is available, and turns to a fridge cabinet, placing down a folder onto a table. Mohinder looks at the folder while Bobs back is turned, and sees the name 'Adam Monroe'. Bob pulls a vial from the fridge cabinet, telling Mohinder that he should inject Monica with a variant of the 'Shanti virus' to see if it STOPS her abilities. They argue, Bob explains that there are some abilities in this world that must be stopped, using Gabriel Gray as an example, and at length Bob tells Mohinder he has to do it to help find a cure.

We cut to Molly's room (who is still in a coma) where Mohinder is on the phone to HRG, who is in the ukraine with the Hatian. Mohinder explains his predicament, and HRG tells him to do it. HRG guesses that Mohinder has brought Molly to the company. HRG tells Mohinder that they will lose everything if he doesnt do it, and will probably lose Molly, too.

Odessa, Ukraine
Ivans Wife and Son go out to a party. Ivan says goodbye. Once gone, HRG and the Hatian appear, and we learn that HRG speaks either Ukrainian or Russian fluently, as he addresses Ivan as 'My Old Friend', and punches him in the face.

Costa Verde High School
Lunchtime. Claire tells West she didnt make cheerleading, and is worried about the fact she lied to her Dad about being in cheerleading, especially now she didnt make the cut. West says that they will find a way to get claire on the team. "You're a total babe, and you have a power, by definition you're better than she is", says West in reference to Debbie. They plot to publicly humiliate her, to get other cheerleaders to stand up and vote claire onto the squad.

Parcela Delgado, Mexico Nr US Border
Alejandro is sleeping in the back. Gabriel and Maya are speaking. He tells Maya she has a fascinating gift, which confuses Maya who considers it a curse because she cant control it. Gabriel being very open about his powers, what he could do, and that he cant anymore, he of course skips the bits about killing. He says he wants to be 'Special', 'Unique' and that an ability doesnt need to be a burden, and reaches across to stroke Mayas hair, who looks very happy at the prospect of being in contact with Gabriel. Alajendro wakes up, and tells Maya to stop at the next Gas station, where he will find a 'Coyote' to take them across the border, because he doesnt trust Gabriel. Maya says that God delivered Gabriel to them, so convinces Alajendro that they will cross the border together. We hear Gabriels 'clock ticking'.

Japan
The expert has already started reading, so picks up with ando where he currently is.. but Ando insists they start at the beginning. Hiro explains they attack tonight....

Ancient Japan
... Hiro says that they are facing such a huge army, he doesnt know what to expect, and that he fears for the swordsmiths life, and for yaeko, the woman he loves but cannot have. He tries to get yaeko to reconsider. Hiro looks at yaekos painting, she has been mapping out the army camp. Hiro refers back to his memory of the story and points out where he thinks her father will be. Yaeko says they cannot leave it to chance, at which point Kensei returns and says the swordsmith is in the 'tent that smoulders' just like hiro had said before.

Odessa, Ukraine
HRG asks about 8 paintings that Isaac Mendes did starting with Kaitos death, ending with HRG's. Ivan tells HRG that he will not tell him anything, that he trained HRG and Claude. HRG Introduces the Hatian as having a new trick, to pull out memories at will, targeted and specific to what Ivan holds most dear. Wedding, Births of his Sons etc. HRG gets the hatian to pull out the day Ivan met his wife. --- cut to pause --- HRG asks about Caterina (his wife), their honeymoon, her favourite flower, and Ivan cannot remember. HRG's phone rings, its Claire. Claire asks to borrow the car, then asks where HRG is, he of course lies, saying he is in a management meeting.

Costa Verde High School
West walks up to claire, and shows her a balaclava, asking her what she thinks, to which she says 'Im In'.

Odessa Ukraine
Ivan and HRG talk, Ivan offers HRG a job back in the company, saying the company has changed they have new directives, and that HRG and family would all be safe (claire included). Camera pans to a photo of Ivans family. Ivan offers HRG his life back.

US Border
As they cross the border, 'Citizens Border Patrol' arrive with guns and trucks. Gabriel says to drive around them.

Company HQ
Mohinder walks into an examination room where Monica is sat on the bench, carrying a syringe containing the virus. Monica refuses at first, but Mohinder convinces her to do it. At the last minute, Mohinder doesnt do it, and walks out, to see Bob, where he says he will not do what Bob requires, smashes the syringe, and also the fridge cabinet containing more of the virus serum.

US Border
Maya begins to lose control of her power, and at Gabriels bidding, she refuses Alejandros help. The citizens border patrol begin to die, Gabriel too. Maya drives off.

Costa Verde High School
Drunk debbie is weighing cheerleader girls, writing their weight on their foreheads, saying that 'appearance matters' for the 'tubettes'. Claire walks in, asking to speak to Debbie. She offers to do Debbies biology homework for a week to get to speak to her alone for 5 minutes. Debbie refuses to change her mind. West in balaclava picks up claire, and drops her on the steps, killing her. Debbie screams and runs at which point, West flies up behind debbie. We cut to the police interviewing Debbie, who is pointing at the steps where Claire lay dead. Claire walks onto the scene now. The police question how much she has had to drink.

White Beards camp.
Kensei thanks Hiro for giving him a purpose in life and wanders straight into the camp. He meets a guard almost straight away who plunges a sword into his stomach. Kensei stands, groans a little, then removes the sword, and uses its hilt to knock out the guard. Hiro Kensei and Yaeko now arrive in the tent where they plan to save the swordsmith. The swordsmith refuses to leave because White Beard has an arsenal of guns, which the swordsmith taught him how to build. Kensei now plans to smash the guns, and the swordsmith agrees to leave.

Company HQ
Mohinder kisses Mollys forehead. Bob asks to speak to Mohinder. Bob apologises for his actions, says that hes been with the company for 30 years and that theyve done some things he is not proud of. He agrees that he overstepped his bounds. He explains that he is trying to deal with someone who is a danger to everyone. Mohinder asks if it is to do with Adam Monroe. Bob nods, and says that Mohinder is valuable to the company to help them keep in line. Bob says that they both have a lot to lose, and says he is sending someone to make sure they dont misunderstand each other any more. Mohinder notes that he has no choice.

White Beards camp.
The Swordsmith, Yaeko, Hiro and Kensei are all running from people, Kensei killing people as he goes. One of White Beards army grabs a gun and fires it at Hiro and Yaeko, and Hiro teleports himself and Yaeko well away from the camp. Yaeko insists that Hiro explains what happens. She knows that Hiro has power to move people, and she realises that Hiro was the one with the mask, who she initially fell in love with under the cherry blossoms. She asks if Hiro loves her, and Hiro says he does. Yaeko leans in to kiss Hiro, and Hiro stops time, giving himself a moment to get out of it.... but he goes into the kiss. The camera pans out to note that kensei has seen them.

Japan
The scrolls are finished, Ando is upset because there is no more detail, but thats that.

Somewhere in the US (across the border)
Alejandro is beating up Gabriel. Alejandro now calls Maya a killer, because of what Gabriel told her. Maya says they need Gabriel and Alejandro says that the next time Mayas eyes blacken, he wont be there to save Gabriel, he will let him die. Maya goes to get something to help Gabriels cut lip. Gabriel speaks in english to Alejandro, telling him that hes going to kill Maya and Alejandro to get their power when he gets his power back, and if he CANT get his power back, that it doesnt matter, because Maya is a shiny new toy that belongs to him.

Costa Verde High School
Claire and West dicuss what happened. West says that Debbie freaked, but that its a lesson in humility. May runs up to tell them that Debbie got a .13 on the breath test, drinking on school grounds so has been suspended from cheerleading squad immediately. May now offers Claire the now open spot on the team.

Odessa, Ukraine
HRG Picks up Ivans family photo and asks Ivan why he never said anything about a daughter in all the years hed known him. Ivan says she died of lukeamia. HRG now has a precious memory to threaten Ivan with and does just that. Ivan caves straight away and tells him where to find the paintings, in a warehouse where they "tied the liquid man". Ivan asks now what, if the hatian is to remove his memory. HRG however, has other plans, so messes up the room to make it look like it was just an intruder, and tells Ivan hes going to kill him so it looks like a senseless murder. Ivan tlls HRG he is offereing him a way out, that if he kills him, hes sending himself straight to hell, and HRG pulls the trigger, saying 'i know'.

Ancient Japan
Hiro runs up to Kensei, who is poking a fire, telling him they must go and destroy the guns. Kensei confronts him about kissing Yaeko. Hiro says it was an accident that he fell in love with Yaeko. Kensei tells Hiro that he has been cut deeper by Hiro than any blade ever could. Hiro tells Kensei that Yaeko is Kensei's princess, and that the kiss would be their last, that White Beard must be stopped. Kensei nods to agree, but when Hiro turns, Kensei knocks him out. Soldiers appear holding the swordsmith and yaeko, telling Kensei he will be richly rewarded.

Atlanta
Monica arrives home, with Bob, who gives her loads a folder of information, and a video ipod loaded with everything from martial arts to plumbing. Bob says to look around, because it looks like that town needs a little amazing.

Company HQ.
Mohinder is joined by Nikki. Nikki says she is working with the company because she owes them a lot, and that she is back to her old self. Nikki explains that her job is to make sure there is no further trust issues.

Warehouse in Ukraine.
Paintings are laid out, (im sure someone will post screen grabs of the paintings). HRG says 'what does it mean?'

Canada, Montreal
Peter and Caitlin walk into the building, there is a label on a mirror, with a message on the back saying "We were right about the company, the world is in danger. Its up to us - Adam". Caitlin hugs Peter, and Peter says "please tell me the way out, what the future holds" at which point they are teleported to New York, in the future. Its deserted, altho all the buildings are intact. Peter picks up an evacuation note Marked July 18th 2008.

Pretty good episode overall. We finally get to see the other paintings (which are rather cryptic from the looks of them). Claire's storyline makes a return in a somewhat pointless fashion really, I'm not totally sure what the idea is with that, seems more like a distraction. Sylar was getting himself into some trouble as usual, lucky he convinced Maya to use her power, but of course he arouses the suspicions of Alejandro in the process. I thought it was interesting that Sylar just went straight out and told Alejandro his plans like that (couldn't Maya overhear easily?). I half expected Alejandro to just punch Sylar in face, I was thinking maybe he knew some english, seems like he doesn't know any at all (makes you wonder where Maya learnt it). I guess she must have taken English in school and he didn't. Smile

It seems likely that Sylar will get his powers back, at least to an extent. He might not get back his powers from last season, but he might get his understanding power back. Otherwise, he's not much of a character really, from Villain to zero in this case. Confused

Looks like peter has gotten himself into something interesting, not sure what it all means yet though. And then of course he has another power malfunction and ends up a year in the future. Talk about making things complicated! How's he going to get out of this one? I must say Caitlin is taking this all rather well! Very Happy

I wonder what Sylar's plans really are? When he says he will take Maya to Dr Suresh does he mean Mohinder? I'm assuming he does since he killed Chandra. I think the episode title is very clever. We saw so many people crossing "the Line" last night. I thought it was a good episode. The last 10 minutes made the episode though. We now seem to have a climatic event to look forward too. Wonder why NYC is the target again? Just sheer numbers?

I think the Hiro storyline has now become interesting where as before I was annoyed by it. I'm wondering now how it will all shake down. The Claire/West thing was kind of stupid but I guess it worked. I was also wrong about Peter going to Montreal. I'm wondering who this Adam character is.

I'm glad Mohinder didn't give that shot to Monica. I didn't realize they called the virus the Shanti virus. Mohinder didn't flinch, it was like he already knew. Have they said that before and I just missed it? Finally, here's my list of people who crossed the line last night:

1) Maya, Alenjandro and Sylar crossed the Mexico/USA line
2) Maya crossed the line by using her powers to kill people and refusing Alejandro's help
3) HRG crossed the line by shooting his old friend
4) Claire/West crossed the line by scaring the head cheerleader
5) Hiro crossed the line by kissing Kensei's girl
6) Bob crossed the line by asking Mohinder to give the virus to Monica

That's all I can think of now. Any others?

I think the storyline with Claire right now is setting up her cover to be with West, She told Noah she was on the Squad to cover her being out with West, so now she has to join , but, she was snubbed, West came up with this idea to get Claire on the Squad

I still dont like West, he made the statement that He and Claire were Better than the others because they are Specials , Makes him kinda seem like a supremeist.......

As far as Petes storyline i think the massive loss of life in the next year is due to Maya's power, either by Maya after her brother gets the Sylar Treatment, or by Sylar after he gives her the Treatment and cant control the new ability.........

Where's Squeaker's synopsis? I love those!

We've seen HRG shoot three people (Sylar, Claude, Ivan), and two of them were his friends. With a friend like that, you don't need an enemy...

Bob must want something from Monica, since the company has not been nice and helpful like that generally. I'm trying to figure out if he's tracking her, grooming her, or both.

I'm glad Mohinder didn't give Monica the injection, too. When Bob said that he was bringing someone in to prevent misunderstandings, I couldn't figure out how that would help, especially since he and Mohinder hadn't had a misunderstanding so much as a disagreement about ethics. Naturally "preventing misunderstandings" really means "keeping Mohinder in line." Niki said she's cured and back to her old self, but which old self? Is Jessica driving the bus again?

It's amazing more people don't get hurt when Peter accidentally uses his powers. My first guess when I saw New York evacuated with the 93% headline was that the Shanti virus had crossed over into the general population, as Mohinder had warned, or maybe even become something that affected only normals. Someone else suggested that Maya's power might be involved, and that sounds like another good guess. But Maya has to be kind of close to people to kill, unless her power develops - whether it's Maya or Sylar using it. So I'm not sure that it can cause death of 93% of the population.

The parts with Claire were somewhat interesting, but I don't know where they're going with that. Are they establishing West as a bad influence? Developing Claire's character? Setting up a situation for Claire to be outed?

I didn't get quite what Kensei had done. He turned on Hiro, Yaeko, and her father, but how did he convince the bandits to be on his side? Did they want Yaeko's father that badly? Maybe Kensei's fighting skills impressed them and they want him on their side. If anyone understood this, please enlighten me.

At least Hiro actually got to kiss the girl this time.

While Bennett was interrorgating the russian guy he made a comment about where the captured the "Liquid Man"

Maybe it could be Adam Monroe? But i doubt it because Peter would of appeared to of meet him and would have what ever ability Adam has?

Lots of info to definitely absorb, let alone ponder...

What I want to know, and perhaps this should be moved to a new topic since I'm straying slightly: Why doesn't "Peter" or "Hiro" simply time travel upon each mistake they think they have made. (Ex: Hiro could have backtracked one minute and NOT have kissed Yaeko) Future Peter could be leaving clues for present Peter to do the right thing at the right time, or follow the right path, etc...

I have a feeling Takezo Kensei and Senior Petrelli are in something together, albeit no good - Working together...

The other thing: Peter already has all the abilities to make him unstoppable. Primarily, he has six alone (yet still more) that would make him rather invincible and impervious to anything: Teleportation/Time Travel, Phasing, Invisibility, Flight, and.... "Mimic". Whatever anyone throws at him, he can absorb and use against them; Therefore if the "YIN/YANG" theory is out there, he could absorb the very power from the next person absorbing his power, eventually nullifying everything = TRUE BALANCE. (My head is spinning...) But, lets say in the interim, before "Maya's power amplified engulfs the world in a dark eclipse of death (another theory) - Peter is unstoppable: He has more powers than even Sylar. Imagine being able to - "only" - simultaneously phase, turn invisible, fly, teleport, and heal/regenerate - not to mention telekinesis, etc........... dream, precog, ...... Once he masters everything, as Claude said, "He will be EVOLUTION at its peak! He won't have to die, live, breathe, etc.. He will simply be... everywhere... in all things... Omnipotent (not trying to sound sacriligious here) I know that sounds whacky, but 'THINK' about all the powers combined and "evolved".

Ok.. sorry to go off on a tangent. I'm just on a roll..... a crazy one yeah, but I have to talk to someone!!! LOL

Wow I just looked at some pics of the painting that Noah and the Haitian found. Pretty intresting stuff. One shows Mohinder firing a gun, could he be the one who shoots HRG? Another one showed Hiro and Kensei having a sword fight. One had a picture of Future Peter (because he had a scar) and Sylar in the background behind him. There's also a pic of a blonde banging on a door or something. Not sure who it is yet though. Very interesting stuff.
