Could be, though, he seems to have the opposite of a mental handicap, he understands everything! Still, the Heroes powers are supposed to be heavily linked to their brains, so who knows.
Back to the epidode though, Sylar doesn't find out what Hiro's power is, since he never realises that time was stopped for a while when Hiro tried to kill him. He probably just assumed that he jumped out from somewhere while he was distracted. However, the teleport certain gets his attention, and confuses him.
He seems as though he wants to be a normal human, but the power corrupts him, you can see it in his eyes, especially when he is using his freezing ability in this episode. He lets the power control him. If he got Ted's power, that could cause serious problems. It's a very dangerous power, and even Peter is now struggling with it. That's why he'll probably end up being shot by Claire in ep 22. I wonder if Sylar will try to go after Hiro now? Probably not I suppose, since he doesn't have access to the list any more, and so he has no idea where to look. Hiro is a very hard one to find anyway, he's always teleporting around.
I think Peter's too popular of a character to be killed off in Season One. I do think that Sylar has some good qualities, but he just can't handle the power. They say absolute power corruptes absolutely and I think Sylar is a walking example.
This is totally random and problably posted in the wrong topic, but do you think hiro and ando have ever taken a shower in this show?? If so, where?? especially since hiro has technically lived several months more than most of the other characters on the show
the only trouble i have with that whole Molly stopping Sylar thing, is that Eric SAID that she's the only one that can stop him.. would it be that she can keep constant tabs on him allowing linderman's group to tag him and take him down?
Also, with his super hearing, don't you think that it would be hard to kill him? you couldn't sneek up on him or even cock a gun without him hearing you...

just a thought
Yes, but pay close attention to the context in which he says that, and from that context, I don't think we can put too much stock into it
He says that to Mohinder, specifically to get him to try to help them....Mohinder is clueless and easily persuaded, and once he hears from her what her power is (that and getting the star drawing which obviously touched his heart), he is very impressed by her ability and thinks she's very important as well
I'd have to say that somehow Linderman knows that Sylar's going to eventually capture and steal Candace's power. When he does that, the only way that they're going to be able to track him down is going to be thanks to Molly. Thus, she's the only way they're going to be able to stop him..
Second, I'd have to say that Hiro being able to stop time would be able to sneak up on Sylar without too much trouble. Freeze time, walk in, prepare, and if it's not Bushido-like, you can then unfreeze time as you're making the strike.
He nearly was able to do that in this last episode, so I'd have to say that It's quite possible for someone to get close enough to Sylar without his notice.

Agreed. I took it that Hiro lost his nerve, and the flow of time resumed again. Had he not been so nervous Sylar would have been toast on a stick.
Also, why did Sylar freeze the blade? Why not melt it? After all, he does have the ability to melt metal...
Posted: Fri May 11, 2007 7:59 pm Post subject: Peter and Ted meet
Peter meets Ted and immediately starts to go ballistic because unlike some other abilities (hiro, nathan, D.L.) Ted is always "active". As soon as they meet Peter becomes "active" but cannot stop from going full on.
I have no clue what Peter's motivation is to seek him out, but I have guesses on how the writers might use this.
Peter's trying to stop Ted from exploding. Claire asked Peter why not run the other way (from Ted), before they went looking for him. Peter said something like, "If we save ourselves, who will save everyone else?"
He's just not really the right person to do it. He didn't seem to have a plan to stop Ted. And if Claire has to kill Peter (which isn't much of a back-up plan), she's likely to have to stop Ted by herself.
Well, previews show
Claire talking pretty calmly to HRG, which suggests that the crisis has passed without tragedy, at least for the moment.
In "Company Man," unconsciousness was sufficient to keep Ted from a full-on explosion, so maybe we just need Claude to come back and resume "training" Peter. Just kidding. Maybe if Claire has to shoot Peter she just won't go for a fatal shot. But I think (and I'm actually pretty sure for once) that HRG is going to be able to talk Peter through it. I call it, if no one else has. Two-thirds of that job would be getting Peter out of panic mode anyway. Ted might also offer guidance, but during the escape from Primatech, HRG seemed to have a better idea how Ted's power works than Ted does. HRG ought to know just about everything Claude knows about special abilities, since they would have been working together while learning it.

I definitely think that the powers he's taken in have corrupted his mind in some way, and this was mentioned by HRG when Eden and the Haitian captured him. I actually think when they focused on Sylar's eyes, however, it was his first (or one of the first) attempts to utilize two powers simultaneously, as it began when he was lifting the snow globes telekinetically and freezing the water. The reason for this is clear, though Sylar now can probably see some problems with his future, he's still that same frustrated watchmaker wanting to prove himself. Now his Mother, a symbol of the time when he was unnoticed, is a chance for him to prove his power, and his lack of practice at it ended up with a snowglobe smashed into his momma's face. (And so close to Mother's Day).

I thought so too, and though Hiro's ability to freeze time should let him chop Sylar to bits before he knows what happened, Hiro obviously doesn't have the stomach for it (yet). But as Hiro and Ando came to find Issac dead, and spoke in the loft, Sylar didn't hear them. I mean the woman with super hearing (Dale?) said with practice she heard rain coming miles away, which leads me to believe Sylar must focus to use his hearing. On some level it may be superior, and he heard Ando clearing his throat, but only after that did he notice the duel heartbeats only feet away. If caught off guard and he's not trying to listen I think someone may be able to sneak up on 'em.
Also, I think Payquage has a solid theory of HRG talking Peter down from meltdown, and at the very least if need be HRG, or even Matt is more than capable of putting a cap in his crown with Claire's gun. (It's not like he'll stay dead once the bullet's removed, afterall)

I agree SH, however, I'm going to stand by my old theory of comfortable powers coming to the fore first.
Sylar has had the freezing ability far longer than the melting ability, so I'd have to say that he's more comfortable using this power than the melting one. Another reason? He could be running down a 'list' of powers, and pulled one out at random. We know that his favorite power is TK, I mean it's nearly unstoppable when used correctly, and he's very well-versed in its use.
I'd think that either he's going with the comfort factor for his power, or the writers are giving us some foreshadowing of powers that he's going to be using quite a bit on these last few episodes.

Time will tell...
maybe Ted/Peter will be able to repair the frozen/broken sword. I think Sylar thought of freezing it first because he had just been using that power. He may also have been freezing his hand so that the blade did not damage him.
Excellent points. Since he had been using his freeze ability to make it snow for his mum and his hand being harder from being ice cold, I can certainly buy that it would have been the first power he'd have chosen to stop Hiro's blade.
