I'm not sure if any of you guys have brought this up yet, but this is my opinion on what might happen.
Like some of you have said, Nathan might live with the help of Adam's blood.
That's what I'm thinking.
As for Adam. You know how he's screaming and yelling for help?
You know how Sylar got his powers back?
Well I'm not sure about this, but if Sylar gets his super hearing ability back and just so happens to be wandering past the cemetary Adam is buried in, will he hear Adam?
I was thinking about that as well. The way that was just set up with Nathan being shot, it looks like Peter now has the motivation needed to save his brother, or bring him back from the dead. It's only possible with Adam's blood as far as he knows. It seems like the perfect scenario to me for Peter to free Adam. Once again, it sets up Peter Vs Hiro. In the episode of Heroes in season 1 where we went 5 years into the future, there seemed to be some sort of tension between hiro and peter, like they had some type of huge argument or battle at some point in the 5 years leading up to that episode. This could be it! Hiro know's Adam is bad, and how bad it could be if he were freed, even just for blood. Peter might want to do everything he can to get hiro to give up adams location, and hiro would do anything he can to prevent adam from being found. This could be a much more emotional and heated exchange between the two than in this last episode. At least the writers gave us decent closure temporarily, but also left the show setup to go in many different directions.
Then on the other side of thing, there is Sylar who could go after Adam's supposed immortality, but it seems like he would rather go for the cheerleader after his constant references to her in that final episode. Either way, I don't think we have seen the last of Adam Monroe.
Niki did the heroic thing even without her powers which would have helped alot. I still hate that they gave her the virus.
Actually didn't she give herself the virus to stop herself from killing the others?

Anyway I'm going to be very confused if Nathan stays dead. While we may not know if being injected with Adam's blood makes a person recover long afterward, Peter is there and logically he must have the same blood as Adam due to his copying ability. Heck his blood should be even better since he has the power of Clair and Adam.
Also seems to me Ell is liking the idea of being a hero. Her "cool" remark at being praised for saving the others was quite well done. Perhaps this is a step forward for her own mental recovery.
The thing that really bothered me though was what Hiro did to Adam. Why lock him up like that? It just seems so spiteful and cruel. Even if Adam deserves it its hard to believe Hiro would do it. I thought Hiro had gained the will necessary to kill an enemy? So why not remove Adam's head and truly end it? Why leave him to suffer like that or to potentially get found and released by someone else? And can he die from lack of air or food or will he go into some state of hibernation? It just didn't make much sense.
Though given HRG recovered from a bullet in the brain I really wonder if the idea that destroying Adam's head would really kill him. Its not like they've ever tested the theory out.
if adam's blood does have long term effects... what does that mean for Sylar who injected himself with clarie's blood! oh snap!

Under the current circumstances I thought that this finale wasn't bad,
Anyway, did anyone else notice the ashes being absorbed into Peter's hand after he burnt the vial? I thought HE would be the virus, but then realized he had regenerative abilities.
i noticed that too... did you see the helix symbol that was there for a brief second too?
another thing... why didn't adam just stab hiro and kill him? he had him right there... seriously. especially after Hiro left him to die 400 years ago.
also, I've been thinking about how if Peter didn't get involved in the whole virus thing how would it have gotten released? would Adam just have found someone else? Angela did say that only someone with Peter's powers would be able to get to the virus... and obviously it would've gotten out in some way shape or form....
perhaps Adam has another yet to be seen ally?
one of my predictions for season 3: Sylar and Peter inadvertently Team up to fight against the company...
Hola! That was the best episode of the season! I think the whole season was redeemed by that episode. Well, nearly.
Some really great posts on this thread, some are hilarious (BLUFYRE77).
Hiro might have frozen time, to bury Adam alive. What happened to our beloved Haitian? Or Claude? The mystery around Angela bugs me, it doesn't intrigue me.
I still don't like Peter for being such a slow learner. I was laughing out loud when first Hiro and then Matt tell him Adam is a killer, but he needs to hear it from Nathan for the light bulb to go on. Sigh. Peter should leave Caitlin in the future and marry Maya ... those naive bunnies belong together.
I think Nikki and Nathan should stay dead. I liked them both and I agree with Hercules that her saving the girl without her powers was true heroism. I don't know who shot Nathan, but it didn't surprise me because this was the first time someone was going to tell the public ... in the past, didn't the public know about people with powers and didn't they treat the powers like leprosy?
I love Elle. Just love her. She's feisty. She's still doing raunchy things so her father will be proud of her, but that's because she was raised in isolation. She's starting to meet other people like HRG, Mohinder and Molly and she'll change, I think. I'd like to think she'll eventually become friends with over-protected Miss Claire.
Now to my favorite part of the show ... Sylar is back. Oh I do love that naughty boy. Wish Maya would have stayed dead for betraying her brother. I know Sylar is maybe old news, but he's such a good actor and hopefully they'll put a fresh twist on his character next season.
when Hiro spied on the company back in the 70's when they locked Adam up, Victoria Pratt said to Kaito that Adam couldn't have broken in by himself, he would have needed help to locate and get the virus.
My guess on Pandora's box reference, Peter and Nathan's father will enter the scene and go crazy for the loss of Nathan (his favourite son who he had planned to be his and Angela's toy in the white house). His suicide was all a set-up in conjunction with Lindermann. Could end up with Peter taking him down in a super emotional display of crazy power overload. That would be sweet.
holy crap! i just realized something upon watching this episode again.
alright in the vault on the top left is a jagged dagger... very distinct.
now in the next scene with monica when the dude burns the comic take a look at the weapon St. Joan is holding in her hand.
for some reason i don't think that's a coincidence... i think that all the items are related to the heroes in some way shape or form.
think about it... what else was in that vault? A Brain?... hmm....who likes brains? what if sylar studies it..or eats it like other say?
but yeah i definently sticking to my theory of Sylar and Peter somehow teaming up to fight the company and a new character is going to be the main villian... possibly the person who helped adam attempt to get the virus the first time who i think has powers like Peter and was the same person that CLaude was referring to.... now if it Arthur Petrelli or not remains to be seen...
Cards kinda reminded me of hte poker hand hte guy had before jessica made a nice little mess of their poker room. linderman refered to them having to repain tthat room when she was done

Or he might be able to hear Aaam's thoughts.
Just a theory.
There is also a distinct possibility that Maury Parkman could come out of his comatose nightmare - either on his own or released by Matt or someone else - and use his mind powers to find and rescue Adam. He was referred to as being one of Adam's disciples, right?

I don't know if this has been posted anywhere here yet, but for those of you who like Adrian Pasdar... he has a youtube account (I've been a subscriber for a few months now). It is buckshotwon. He has posted some comments on his account as follows:
I wish I could share with you all the future for Nathan... But, as you all well know, mum IS the word.
Who could possibly have shot me?? The REAL answer to that question is very, very interesting. I promise.
Hmmmm, interesting indeed.
As I've seen posted here and other places as well, Tim Kring has said that he and the writers do not know if Nathan Petrelli will be back for season 3 or not. In one supposed "reputable" source, it says that it "may" be up to the fans.
On that note, at buckshotwon's account, I saw that JentheFanGirl had posted a note about a website to save Nathan Petrelli. So for you Nathan Petrelli fans out there... if you wanna show your support, don't forget to check out this website:
