There have been known survivors of catastrophic explosions like what we saw Niki in. If she could've found a plave to hide under, or a hole to creep into, or another way out of the warehouse, then we could realistically see her come "back from the dead".

However, as close a proximity to the blast as she should have been, I could also see her being knocked around a bit, and see jessica as the main driving force behind her "new self" that emerges from the wreckage.

So then Micah won't be an orphan, but the task of finding Niki again under the Jessica persona is a long story that might take up quite a bit of time in the next series or so.

I think that Nikki needs to die, especially so Nathan can live (it would be extremely lame for the writers to bring back both of them and would result in countless fans disliking them very much for ruining the show like that.) As for her surviving the explosion, that would be something like a 1/1,000,000 miracle case. That much concussive force would most likely instantly break her neck and slam her into the ground aside from giving her serious burns.She wouldn't be able to walk away from an explosion like that for at least a few minutes in any case, and breathing the the super heated air would burn the heck out of her lungs in seconds, which is definitely fatal, not to mention the explosion would take the oxygen out of the air and replace it with toxic smoke. If the writers bring her back, I will be extremely disappointed that they not only saved a worthless character and left Nathan to die, but that they did it in the most unbelievable manner possible.

Yes, as much as I know the Niki lovers out there will hate me for this...

If it comes down to a choice between saving Nathan or saving Niki? Well, Nathan would get my vote every time. I'm sorry. I don't really have anything against Niki. But I really like Nathan and he is extremely important to Peter (who is my fav) and I love the Petrelli dynamic.

I really liked season 2 okay, despite some other's dislike of it. My main reason for being disappointed in season 2 was because we didn't get to see Peter/Nathan together. The Petrelli dynamic is what really hooked me on season 1.

Just my two cents.

you have reasons that are beyond "i hate niki"

as for the others that posted I dont think the explosion killed her she obviously will have to be injected because of hte virus she injected herself with so who knows how hurt she'll be. but i dont see htat as a cop out cosnidering how many times we've heard mohinder go. "must inject niki"

Nikki has never really been important to the show and they can't carry her any longer. Early in season 1 her persona added a bit of edge with the sheer violence of the way she would wake up and find people murdered. In terms of keeping her strongly involved in a serious arc, I can't see that. Peter, The Peterelli's, the company, Sylar, Hiro (Ando), Mohinder, HRG and the Haitain, maybe a few others like Matt are the real drivers of the show.
The series will be much stronger without "needing" to script her in.

yep season 1 was great. season 2 they cut her stuff for the new people stuff which sucked. cause she was the perfect person for maury to have done what he did to cause who would have beleived her if she said she saw things. they coulda played that more. they coulda played more how the company tricked her, etc. instead we get maya aljendra road trip.

I don't think we've seen the last of Niki. I honestly think that due to the explosion, we're not going to be seeing Niki, but we'll be seeing Jessica. After all, Jessica is the strong survivor of the two, and it's my thought that she'll come through so strongly that Niki's going to be lost for a while.

I'd say that Micah and Monica aren't going to know that Niki/Jess has survived, and when it is discovered that Jessica's still around, it's going to be a big surprise. Mainly because of how different she is now compared to what she was like when working with Mohinder and "The Company" for a cure to her virus.

Anyway, that's just my take. I don't think they'd torture Micah too badly, mainly because folks don't like to see young kids get their emotions tromped on like that on prime-time TV.. Shocked

yep i can see that happening myself. and I can see Jessica NOT hiding whom she really is. cause in this case its not that shes pretending ot be niki its that she had to take control as herself.

The writers are VERY big on making the viewers think that a character is dead, or fatally wounded and assuredly about to die.

Honestly, it's not about whether or not it's physically possible in real life, the problem is that I have now come to the point where I don't expect anyone on the show of any importance to necessarily be dead whenever they are "killed." Sucks all the drama right out of the show. Honestly, look at the list. All three people who seemed to suffer fatal injuries in the Volume 1 finale lived to tell about it.

I still will never understand why they didn't just let D.L. die in Kirby Plaza if their brilliant plan was to have him shot again less than 4 months later. Can you even recover from a gunshot wound and go through fireman training that time? And Matt was shot 5 times and still managed to be A-OK for police training in no time. I don't care who you are. If you are shot 5 times in the abdomen and chest, it's probably not likely that you would have a full recovery in less than 4 months, or maybe even at all. Then again, maybe I don't know much about medicine.

While Niki is not one of my favorite characters
I am not willing to write her off yet
simply because by my count she may be the last
carrier of the Chanti Virus left.
As far a Micha is concerned
sometimes it seems all his parents ever did
was tell him not to use his powers.
They could use theirs of course
but God Forbid Micha ever use his.
Heck, Niki didn't seem to have a clue
about what Miches powers were at all,
on the ride over to the warehouse
she kept saying things like
