Worst.
Ending.
Ever.
Seriously. You build up a battle with an invincible man vs. Multiple Man and come up with "Yeah you're right, I'll just go home." instead of continuing to hunt him down? I mean, it's not like you don't have the time to do it. You'll live forever. He won't. Eventually he'll get old and die, or, as we've seen in the show, his high consumption of his power (constantly creating duplicates) will cause him fatigue just like Matt's power gives him headaches and nosebleeds with too much use/strain.
I'm seriously questioning the GN's writers after this :/ Did they ever even read a comic book as a kid? |

| LMFAO, Acid. I'm with you, he could've gotten him if he'd pressed. And with his comment at the end about 'disciples', wouldn't you want ol' Multiple Man on your side? That comment is telling though; weren't there 12 founders in the company? 12 "disciples", just like good ol' Jesus? This also raises the question, why seek out these special people to be your disciples just to have them help you find out how to destroy them and the rest of the world? I guess immortality leads to insanity? Watch out Claire . . . |

| Wonder if we'll see a multiple man in the show? Yeah that ending was a let down. Seems to becoming the norm though to be let down. |

| Well when you put it that way I guess it makes more sense. I don't see why a guy who can live forever would want to kill everyone else though. So he can be alone even more? |

Exactly -- This GN explains Adam's motives.
The thing is, they should have had his motives explained on the SHOW a little better though, don't you think? |

Honestly I still am not sure what his motives are. Maybe I'm missing something though. I know he wants to release the virus, but why? To see who can survive it? |

because,....he wants to "win" but, just because you cant die, simply means you "cant lose" theres a difference
in his mind, he can never truly "win" unless he gets help, at best, he will always be "tied"
and "help" means the virus/the originals i suppose.
point is, this GN explained SO much to me, its uncanny |

This is where my theory about a future Claire/Adam 'ship comes into play. Adam doesn't have to be alone. He just thinks he does. But when he pops the question to Claire, "I know I'm 400 and you're only 18, but I think we should get married.", he's got a for serious "life partner".
Explanation of motives or not, it's still a let down of an ending. Here you have a guy who is SO MOTIVATED to destroy everything Hiro loves, he waits 400 years just so he can kill his father. But he can't go a couple days to kill this one guy that also happens to be a couple hundred guys. He can kill 90 hungry Ronin based on a hunch of a crazy talking Japanese man, but when it comes to finding a worthy opponent, which is what he states he is looking for in the graphic novel nothing more, nothing less, he just gives up.
Yes. That's it. He finally finds what he's looking for, and so he decides that it's not worth it and to just leave it there. |

I'm going to have to disagree with you, Acidman. I don't think the ending was a let down at all. The ending hinted perfectly to Adam's future motives (which are his motives in the present timeline). He ended it with, "I am alone... while Gods should have disciples."
In "Out of Time," Bob specifically says to Nathan (and this is word-for-word):
"Adam was the visionary, but with these abilities, sometimes people tend to think of themselves as GODS. Did you ever think that Nathan? Adam did...
...Linderman was Adam's DISCIPLE."
The very last sentence of this GN has the words "God" and "Disciple" coming from Adam's thoughts. Three weeks prior, Bob used these same two words to describe Adam and his intentions. I don't think this was a coincidence. |

| Acid - re your ship theory, I think it will be revealed that Adam is Claire's grandfather or great-grandfather. So...bit too icky for me to think about. Rob |

I tend to agree. I think somewhere, somehow, they got the point that we're hoping that they'd actually make the GNs tie into the series again, and give us hints and spoilers that we'd have to dig for.
Thus, I'm sure that this is giving us some backstory into Adam, as well as showing us some of the ulterior motive that he has for releasing the virus.
It also helps us, as PK pointed out about Adam and his "God" complex, and his need for 'disciples' to teach them what he knows.
I have to say that this is the best GN that they've had for a long while.
Kudos to the artists! |
