This week's novel details DL's training exercise to become a firefighter.
He talks about how Burke, the Captain, disliked him and always discouraged him. He passed all the drills and exams until the day of the mock fire. They accidentally set the gas line too high, so the fire was too hot. All of the trainees were trapped inside, and DL decides that the only way they're going to get out alive is if he uses his powers to phase down to the basement and turn the gas off.
He succeeds, and all the other trainees make it out, and they start to worry about him. DL walks out, and everyone praises him for his work. Burke (I think) tells him that he's a hero and welcomes him to the department.
DL can't wait to get home and tell Micah the whole story.
The end.
Easter egg: http://www.nbc.com/Heroes/novels/downloads/chapter59_ee.jpg
Story = clichéd, but sweet. Makes me annoyed that they killed DL off and not Niki. Easter egg = adorable. That's about all I really have to say. |

| It wasnt the greatest, considering last nights epi, so I already knew what was going to happen in the outcome of this weeks GN. I think they should have placed this weeks GN somewhere different in the order to better suit the storyline. It just seems like a continuous story from last nights scene, which I liked, but the GN didnt deliver anymore than what show gave us last night. |

| Yeah I agree, this GN seems out of place. DL's already dead, or is he? LOL! Why they chose to show us that stuff now, I don't understand. Pretty much expected outcome. |

| The GN really did not tell us anything that we did not already know. The best part of it was the egg. |

Pointless GN, IMO. They should've done something like this last week, and not given us something that's just there to fill some dead space.
Please, please PLEASE do something more interesting with the GNs! After all, last season they at least had a direction they were headed to. These just seem to be there to fill an empty space on the NBC website, honestly.. |

I didn't have high hopes for this week's GN, especially after seeing the episode last night and having found spoilers for the next three GNs (including this one). I'm holding out hope that next week's will be more interesting, since
it's supposedly about how HRG bagged n' tagged West.

In the aftermath of D.L.'s most lame death ever on television, they give us the most lame GN.
They show, where "Heroes" COULD HAVE went if it wanted to be a better show. But it missed the boat... by a few thousand yards. |

In regards to the Graphic Novel, I disagree. Although I didn't expect to find out anything new, I definitely liked the fact that they released this after we saw DL's death on TV. It was almost like the final 'battle' of sorts of a true hero, and it made me smile at the end, especially when he said, "I was thinkin about Micah, and how much he'd love to see me using my powers like that," as well as, "I couldn't wait to get home and tell Micah the whole story."
The graphic novel showed us that while DL/Niki didn't want to be completely open about using their powers, DL wanted to support his family by any means necessary. By secretly using his powers, he would be hired as a firefighter, and he could go home to his son who, after hearing the story, would be proud of him. The Graphic Novel was meant to leave us with a smile in regards to DL's life, rather than a frown in regards to his death. Anybody ever see The Last Samurai?

PK -- that's my point as well... but you were a lot more eloquent about it than I. Thanks.
And, I liked D.L.'s character a lot more after this GN and the end of his story.
But I wish, we see MORE stories like this in HEROES, instead of all the constant "saving the world" crap. I am getting tired of the "saving the world" crap.
I am actually one who thinks that the St. Joan of New Orleans story will be a refreshing story line, and HEROES, although it can have an underlying mythology and conspiracy NEEDS TO have ongoing human interest stuff like D.L.'s and Niki's relationship, etc... |
