Masi and Ali definitely have shown the most range and ability in their acting, but their not my favorites. The problem is, their characters have, thus far, been given the most depth individually. Hiro has gone from comic book geek to falling in love to heartbreak and finally to maturation. It's a lot easier to see his amazing acting skills in that case. Ali, playing both personalities so incredibly, has that same depth.
My faves are Milo and Hayden. Milo is just so believable as a little brother aspiring for greater thigns (believe me, I'd know). And Hayden, well, besides the fact that she's ten times hotter than any of the cheerleaders at my old high school, she really gives off a feeling of innocence and naivete that none of the other actors/actresses (even Micah) can. Each play their part perfectly, even if it is not as dynamic a role as others. because of that, they are my favorites.
If it were not for him, I would have never started watching Heroes. I don't watch a lot of TV but I caught the the end of the episode where Charlie dies while surfing one evening. I fell madly in love and have been hooked ever since.
Adrian Pasdar is a close second. I loved him on Judging Amy and I love him in Heroes.
while i have to admit that i do not know much about this cast of actors going in, one of my favourites is nora zehetner who played eden . i recalled her from a great little"hallowe'en" movie called may , she plays a small role in it ,hoop or "quackadoodle" and seeing her in heroes was like one of those 'whoa i know her' moments . i also loved her heroes character and thought she had tons of potential for entertaining us , telling matt he wanted to eat donuts was a classic scene !
Anywhoo, my faves have got to be Masi Oka, Milo Ventimiglia and Adrian Pasdar. They're all so believable in their roles. Don't get me wrong, Ali Larter does a great job as N/J, but for some reason she's just not as believable as the aforementioned actors.
Masi Oka: Ok, who hasn't sat at their desk wishing they could change time? (ok, so most of us would make it go the other way, but at least he could do it!) Plus he adds so much comic relief to a show that's often pretty darn serious.
Milo Ventimiglia: Ok, first of all, he's gorgeous. Second, Peter's character is so entirely relatable. I'm an only child, but I know what it's like to have people either not listen to you or not care. His scenes with Adrian are so well done because they can both play the whole family thing off really well with each other. I'm not sure what it is but it works
Adrian Pasdar: omg he's perfect for this role. Seriously, I don't know how many other actors could have pulled off a flying politician... That and he's got that nice comic book hero look to him.
My fav is Zachary Quinto (Sylar). He does a great job at being so evil and sinister. He's the char you love to hate.
when I got the email popup that someone else had posted here, I was watching Ep. 16 and he had just come on screen and I was like "ooh, how did I forget Sylar!?" lol. So yes, I add Zachary Quintos to my list too. He's sooo creepy but so good at it!
I have to agree with Thapie above me on this. Nora Zehetner had to be one of my favorites and I am hoping she has a chance to come back. She was great in May! I also, of course, love Hiro. He was cast perfectly and Ando is a great match with him.
I'm surprised nobody mentioned Mohinder Suresh. I find him to be fantastic, seeing as how he radiates with charisma. Another good one is Sylar, simply meshes with the role perfectly.
Masi Oka is my favorite. He brings the show some humor and the most positive outlook with his role, and the role could have come off as unsympathetic or unappealing if someone else were doing it. He is also the actor with whom I might be able to have a conversation with - I'd love to hear about his work for ILM or play kendo with him (it's been a while for me, though, and I was not particularly advanced, so he'd definitely beat the tar out of me).
I also think Ali Larter is doing a great job with a challenging role, and I like Greg Grunberg's regular-guy appeal. Zachary Quinto is perfect as Sylar. I like Milo Ventimiglia, but I think I like Peter so much that I'm probably not objective about how he's being played. (tangent - I am getting sick of that hairstyle!)
Hiro and Peter have always been my favorite characters because they are the most interested in using their powers to do some good in the world.
Milo Ventimiglia is by far my favorite... I love him in Gilmore Girls, but it is amazing how he plays a completely different character and so well. Oh and the guy that plays Sylar is amazingly freakish - that man's eyes look evil and creep me out! He is a fantastic actor, though.
The guy who plays Nathan Petrelli really reminds me of George Clooney.
It's not so much his face (which i admit doesn't really look anything like GC) but his mannerisms, the way he uses his eyes instead of talking, his voice and accent etc. If someone told me they were brothers I'd belive it.
On the favorite actor topic though, I'd have to say it's Peter for the character, Claire for the hotness.
