Does anyone think that HRG has a power all his own?

If he does, what do you think it would be? Hmmmm.......

I'm referencing TSR'S Marvel Super Heroes Ultimate Powers Book, I think he may have something like "Genetic Perception," which allows him to instantly decode DNA to see who is not entirely human. He may also have what's described as "Total Memory."

Any powers he has are undoubtedly mental. He would not need a gun if he had compelling physical powers.

Truth is YES he does. he has the power to be the bearer horn rimmed glasses without looking like a stupid character in the show. He also has the power to confuse the audience as to wether he is good or bad.

Yep, my theory is that HRG, aka Claire's dad, has the ability to erase memories. That's right - "Voodoo", as he's been named on this forum, doesn't actually exist. It's some sort of physical either manifestation or construct, akin to Nikki but not quite, of HRG's super-power. HRG does the mind-wiping. Oh, and he's so totally not a bad guy. THEORY ALERT 2 - he's using his power to finish the research, albeit a little sneakily with his mind-wipe ability.

I get the face-value idea - Voodoo is the guy that erases memory that tags along with HRG. I guess. My theory may be way off and wrong, but I think with what we have seen up until now, I can still give ample evidence to support my theory. In fact, up until that hospital scene, I would've agreed with you, but...

(1) HRG said something when talking to Brody or Claire that made me do a double-take. Something that made it sound like HE and he alone was going to make this right (i.e., mind erase). I don't have a copy of that ep nor a transcript, but it's one of those pieces of dialogue that sounded like a dropped hint.

(2) Voodoo has never spoken a word. This could be just creepy-no-talk thing, but he hasn't had a voice yet. HRG chatted with Eden, but he's never given "Mysterious Man", as IMDB calls him, a phone call. Does Voodoo not own a cell phone? Doesn't he have interests other than mind-erasing?

(3) We only see Voodoo when there's some malarkey about to go down, and I think it's usually only been when HRG was present and about to order a power to be used. The only exception may be when they went into the hotel room with Nathan and Niki, but there was tom-foolery to be had at that moment as well. We don't see Voodoo anywhere else doing anything else but doing HRG dirty work. You may say, "Oh, but Voodoo was alone in the bar when he knocked Parkman out." Really? We didn't see each and every face in that bar, and heck, HRG could've been right outside.

(4) Ah, but what about Parkman at the bar, you say? He turns and "sees" Voodoo, right? But when Parkman looks over there, he hears no thoughts from Voodoo. OK, you could say that Voodoo was blocking Parkman's power and then knocked him out. OR, with my theory, you could say Parkman just turned in that direction, but didn't really see anything and then gets knocked out almost right after we, the audience, see Voodoo. And, Parkman doesn't hear any thoughts because... Voodoo isn't even really there!!!

(5) No name. I realize HRG doesn't have a name either, but we at least know a lot about him. We know he's Claire's dad, was in Papa Suresh's apartment, seems to travel quite quickly, etc... Heck, we even know Sylar's name, the Big Bad of Season One. But, why not a name for another potential villain in Voodoo?? He doesn't even get "Horned Rimmed Glasses" He just gets "Mysterious Man." HRG doesn't even call him by a name. Hmmm... Maybe he doesn't have a name because there's a surprise there. OR, maybe he doesn't have a name because he doesn't exist.

(6) In the chase where HRG & Voodoo are running after Nathan... does Nathan really acknowledge Voodoo? I can't rewatch the ep to confirm this, but does he actually look right at Voodoo at all?

(7) Oh, and just because "we", the audience, see Voodoo at the door of the hospital room still doesn't mean that he exists. I'm talking about anyone else seeing Voodoo, and, again, HRG is there, about ready to lay some smacketh down. He "orders" Voodoo to do the erasing as a way to activate the power. If I'm right and this is some sort of manifestation, he's in charge of Voodoo and tells it what to do. I also think it's funny he's being called "Voodoo", since he is also named "Haitian" on IMDB, and Haitian voodooism has a component of "Spirits" inhabiting or possessing the priests , priestesses, or just people in general. Hmmm...

The only wrinkle in my theory is Voodoo DOES close the curtain in the hospital, although any ghost or apparition or physical manifestation of the subconscious can learn to push things (see the movie "Ghost").

Heck, maybe Voodoo's a darn ghost that HRG keeps with him like Shang Tsung from Mortal Kombat!!

I'm just havin' fun with this theory and I'm sure I'll be proven right or wrong in the weeks to come. But, at this point, I still think it's a possibility (and a much cooler one at that).

wow I think you need to rewatch the eps. Yes matt knows he is there with Hrg saying not with my friend here and he looks at him and yells. That is evidence of his existance.

nathan looks at both of them before he flies just look at my music vid to see that one if you want. He also if you remember told nikki that 2 men tried to put him in a van. he also had both arms being held 1 by HRG and 1 by Mystery Man.

If he wasnt there then how did brody see him in the room and how did he move the curtains.

Yes he doesnt talk...... that we do know.

Maybe thats why he does all mind altering and erasing. Maybe he cant talk at all and thats that only way he communicates with HRG is by mind. He may answer to him telepathically.

But overall yes he is real... that is a solid YES!

I am not trying to make anyone mad but the proof is all there if you watch it. Trust me I have them all on my Zen Vision and watch on break, thus the reason I came up with the music vid I made.

Whether it is a superpower or not, HRG has the power to persuade others to do his bidding. he has Voodoo and Eden both doing whatever he tells them.

Well I really don't know that much. We're dealing here with a man (HRG)who yet wants to protect Claire as much as he can from harm club

, but then again he goes to the trouble of having a guy wipe out a teenagers memory (GUYS AN ASS) mad

. So at this point, we really have the scales tiped on oth ends. We'll just have to see in the future... and just a little FYI, I do agree with BYD. He may not have a power in my opion, but he DOES have the all powerful powerness of PERSUASION. OOOOO eek

I personally think HRG is the one who has the power to nullify other people's powers. Why do I think this?

1. Most of the heroes have one power... and the only power we've seen teh Haitian do for sure is the mind wipe.

2. He has super powered folks working for him, and afraid of him. Why? Probably because they can't hurt him with their powers!

3. He told Sylar his powers wouldn't work here... I don't think it was because of the room, but because of HRG's presence.

4. The Haitian does his mind wipe after HRG leaves the room... seems to me that is because he *can't* do it when HRG is there.

Hamsandwich makes sense, only thing that contradicts that theory is when HRG is talking to Sylar in his cell and he tells sylar how his powers wont work, well if sylar really can see what makes people tick he would have already known he cant do anything while HRG is there. Also Sylar only comments about taking his daughters brain, if HRG had powers he would have said something about taking HIS powers.
