Alucard Hears Others Thoughts... I went to the doctor the other day. All this guy did was suck blood out of my neck. Never go see Dr. Acula.

| just because he can phase doesn't mean he has increased reaction time. I mean he completely was not expecting that guy to pull out a gun. The whole point of this scene was to show that Niki still was not in control of herself, which in turn ended up getting DL killed, which is WHY she went to the company which explains and ties everything up. I mean, as much as these people have powers they still think like a human. Yes, there are other ways this could have been done, but must it be knocked so hard? It shows that these people aren't SO special. They are still ordinary, and ordinary things can kill them. |

I was just thinking about someone's mention of DL being shot several times, in spite of his phasing ability. This got me thinking - is it possible that this is an indication that some or all of these powers do actually have a weakness?
Maybe DL couldn't phase to save himself from a bullet. Maybe something about the velocity of the bullet, or the fact that it is made of lead (Superman reference FTW!) prevents his phasing from being effective?
For example - maybe if an object has enough kinetic energy (like a bullet or a speeding locomotive) then it disrupts his phasing? Or perhaps certain materials are too dense for him to phase through - like lead?
Anyway - just a thought. But it would be interesting to start seeing some real limitations placed on certain abilities. DL - to all intents and purposes - would be indestructible against anything he could react fast enough to phase as protection against if there were no limitations. Similarly, Claire and Adam can apparently heal any injury - but maybe not. Adam did hint that if Hiro froze time and cut off his head that it might be a final solution - but he also said that if the company could find a way to kill him it would have - so who knows? |

Really interesting thought, but he does phase through a bullet. Back in Season 1, when Jessica tries to snipe him when they're at the truck stop, the first bullet hits him, but he manages to phase as the second bullet passes through his head.
Don't know if that affects your theory at all. |

The point Alucard (and everyone) is not so much in the bullet he did or did not allow to phase through his head -- the point is about the story.
They finally do something really really good with D.L. Hawkins and with Niki (even if another personality materializes). D.L. can now become the HERO his young son wants him to be. And then they go out and get him killed like that? That's what was LAME. This one little bit of story background on D.L. (including his firefighting training in the GN) was more entertaining than half the season of "Heroes" so far. THAT'S WHAT MADE HIS DEATH so emotionally unappealing for me.
Sure, you had to drive Niki forward -- but do it a different way, ok? And why didn't D.L.'s death appear to have as much of an emotional impact on Micah?
And where is Micah getting all those "9th Wonder" comics? I thought Isaac Mendez was dead... |

Yeah very lame death to DL.
Think about the Scene (envisioned by TIM Kring).
Okay in this scene :
-DL comes in and finds Gina (Nikki) with greased back hair guy.
-DL pulls Gina (Nikki) away.
-Nikki returns to normal self, and has memory loss
-DL spits out mushy line "You can never leave me", and they both leave.
-Greased back hair guy comes out and shoots DL. Then he goes back in to party some more.
---Wow. what a LAME scene. Really blows.
-Next we see Nikki at (possibly) DLs funeral? and enter in BOB.
-Thanks BOB for paying for DL's last shooting....too bad we couldnt afford this new one. My little DL, always getting in the way of a bullet.
-Lame way to bring in BOB...really lame

Yeah! Funny point Benefactor....hehe
Micha is getting all his ninth wonder comics because he subscribed for 2 years...
and before Isaac died he wanted to make sure to paint 30 more issues to keep the publishing company alive.
That is why Isaac stayed to wait for SYLAR. In between his fight w/peter and Sylars visit, he painted 8-future outbreak paintings, and 30 more 8th wonder issues.
What a trooper.
splat...it hits the fan

Sure! He painted all of that AFTER he painted the LAST ONE where he showed how to stop Sylar where he becomes a HERO?
SURE!
I need to start a new thread on this...... |

I honestly think that the worst part about this whole thing was the indifference of DL through the whole show. At least in the first season, he had a fire, and was trying not only to rebuild his life, but also restore the life that Niki and Micah had as well.
Then, he gets shot in Kirby Plaza, and is hospitalized for a couple of months. During that time, he finds out that Niki has agreed to take some pills in order to combat not only her super strength, but also her personality disorder. Instead of being skeptical about the whole arrangement like he used to be last season, he just nods and lets Niki "do her thing". Then, once he's able to get up and going, he's suddenly able to become a firefighter! Imagine! An ex-con, who as far as we know is still at large for escaping prison, suddenly is able to get a job with the same city, and fight fires! Amazing! Stupendous! Why didn't he get arrested once he applied for the job?
Anyway, He comes home one day, and sees the lipstick message on the mirror, and automatically assumes that Jessica has come back home to roost. He runs off with no thought or regard for Micah, and hunts down Niki/Gina/Jessica. He finds her dancing with a greaseball schmuck in a dance club in LA, and is willing to beat the slimeball down to get her home. Once she comes to her senses, he explains that she'll never get rid of him. They leave, and in the space of him facing off with Mr. Slimeball, he looks down at a gun, and gets shot yet again!
You'd think that he'd have at least been on his guard once he saw the man's face!
Poor writing, bad exit, and just a bit too cliche for me, to be honest. |

Actually, he was no longer a convict on the run.... Linderman had dropped all the charges (or the company), so he had nothing hanging over him... meaning the conviction had been overturned and his record was clean and sealed. That's how I saw it.
As for the running after Niki -- Well, if being someone's husband means you know about their past behaviors, and what they revert to....And I am sure, he found a sound babysitter for Micah, and a good excuse for work...Does all that have to be explained for you?
What bothers me more, is him being shot 3 times in 2 seasons... that's lame. |
