Where we meet Piper and Debbie (her sister -- twin? -- they never say).

Piper is your typical high school teenager. EXCEPT she's not so typical because she' not into drugs, booze or any other thing like that. The reason she appears stoned all the time and so out of it is because she doesn't sleep. And the reason she doesn't sleep is because she fears her dreams.

Piper fears her dreams because she dreams of Aliens abducting her and subjecting her to experiments and torture. She doesn't want to experience any of this, so she avoids sleep. But then Sanjog Iyer comes into her dreams and helps to guide her. He tells her not to be afraid that she already has the answer. And in her dream, Piper experiences being strapped down in a gurney or bed somewhere (presumably Primatech Paper), but this time being able to use her abilities to escape.

Apparently, Piper is "Elastic Girl". During the escape process she meets another girl who helps her and who looks very much like her. We can never tell whether the other girl is a figment of her imagination at that point or if there really was an escape attempt. But Piper gets out with the knowledge that she has a sister and that there are no Aliens -- these are the men that were holding her.

Her concerned parents who have had their memories erased by the Haitian of course call the "Doctor" who happens to be HRG.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Overall, a great little novel.

I hope we get to see Piper again. I like "Elastic Girl".

Eh, it was an okay novel, in my opinion. I was happy that it involved HRG and The Haitian - it brought back some familiar faces. As for progression of the story line, nothing of course. I have a feeling it's going to be like this (introducing new characters with mini-backstories, then leaving them behind) until July or August. Then maybe we'll get a GN about Angela, Sylar, or Knox's past. That would be cool. But we've still got a long way for those.

While the GN wasn't that bad, it also left me a bit cold.

Yes, we get to see HRG and The Haitian back in action as they had been back when we loved them in season 1.

However, the focus of this GN was supposed to be on the new girl(s?), not on the standards.

Plus, I'm getting more and more interested that Sanjong keeps coming into the GNs lately.

We never heard anything about or from him back in Season 2, and we only saw him a couple of times in Season 1.

Yet here he has made at least three appearances in the last few series of GNs, and he's been more of a driving force for some of these characters than I'd have originally guessed.

When we first met Sanjong, he seemed to be a benevolent, of withdrawn character who wanted folks to discover as much about themselves as they could BY themself, without his assistance.

However, in the GNs, it seems that he's been actively looking for some of these characters, and bringing out the latent abilities that have long hidden inside of them.

Take this last GN for example:

After reading it, you learn that the reason that she's been so out of it is because of the medications that have been pumped into her to keep her memory and abilities from manifesting.

Yet, because of Sanjong, she is able to regain those abilities, and learns why she fears her sleep and dreams.

Now. My questions is simply this..

Is Sanjong working FOR these folks, or someone else??

Just a thought to ponder while we wait for the next season...

I thought it was just ok. I couldn't tell if that was HRG and the Haitian or not. I thought it was, but they looked somewhat different to me. At first when they went the alien abduction route I was like, Please God NO! but then they turned it around so I was ok. I agree with Jorm about Sanjog! He's been showing up quite a bit and I'd have to think there's a reason.
