This one's about someone near and dear to the hearts of most Americans.
Ben Franklin is positied in this GN as being someone who not only "discovered" that lightning is electricity in it's most raw form, but that he was also someone who was able to absorb the massive amount of energy that was displaced into him, and walk away.
Are they trying to say that Ben Franklin was someone who could absorb and redirect energy?
Interesting.
Not the best GN, but it did impress me that they're trying to make everyday stories more in-depth with each passing day.
I kind of like where this GN was headed, and would honestly like to see more of this style..
I'm a bit worried that they have so solidly linked children with powers to parents with powers... that if they give us famous real families with powers, it could trap them.
I have mixed emotions about this one. I think it is somewhat cool that they are trying to include something we're all familiar with, but it also kinda makes me roll my eyes too. I mean I'd rather it have been someone we didn't know from that time who had read about Ben's experiments and tried them for himself instead of Ben being the one who might have been special.
True. I'd have rather seen that it was someone Ben was working with instead of the man himself.
If it was been William, that would have been a bit more plausible than Ben.
I agree that if we start making these folks to mirror famous bloodlines, then we come to the point in time where some demented folks might be hunting down these said families to see if there really is some kind of supernatural powers at work.
I'd much prefer it to be some shadowy presence, or often misunderstood individual that worked in the shadow of greatness, and was able to hide their ability because of attention being paid to the experiments themselves.
Anyway, it's an interesting GN in that it's exploring something new, instead of trying to reinvent the wheel, IMHO...
BTW, can a mod change the title to "CHAPTER 75". Sorry Jorm, you messed-up!
Anyhow, on to the meat of the story....
It's a good story, in this beginning -- I believe, it sets us up for a reveal, latter on, for someone else special who will also have powers, don't you think?
Will we ever have thought that Ben Franklin could be special (other than his intellect which was amazing for its time? -- No!) So, they might not have gone further with this story, but they are probably foreshadowing the reveal of a Hero who could be very important in the future as someone well connected in government or something like that. Haven't you wondered, until now, why they haven't shown any government types in the series?
Honestly, I don't know if that's a good direction for the series, or if it's too X-Filey or what? But, it would be another tone to the series, it would bring more of a conspiracy undertone. especially if the government DOES know about specials and has been hiding that knowledge -- then people like Suresh have been fighting the wrong kind of evil.....!
Yeah, I kind of noticed that after reading the response. I guess when I was entering the title, I'd still had the Chapter 73 GN on my mind, since it's the one I read prior to making this thread..
Oh well, just goes to show that I'm just a human as the next supercomputer!
Thanks for the proofreading there Herc! Where were you when I needed it?

What, Nathan Petrelli (and President Nathan/Sylar in FYG) doesn't count?
And what about Matt when he was working for Pres. N/S in FYG?
And I would assume that Mohindir was working for the government in FYG as well.
And a bit more on track of what you were really talking about, what about FBI agent Audrey Hanson? (She is the woman Matt worked with in S1, trying to find Sylar.)
DOESN'T count -- That's an ALTERNATE future that's never going to happen NOW. It has been prevented.
Audrey Hanson never caught on to what has been going on. BUT, I would love to see them bring her back and use her as a Dana Scully type character, investigating ODD things happening with people where she slowly uncovers this vast conspiracy. That would be cool, and a good non-powered character with an outsider perspective to bring us viewers in to the show more......
