This novel opens with Abu Aswan, an Egyptian, contemplating the history of the Great Pyramids at Giza Plateau in Egypt.
Abu is thinking back on the history of the pyramids and wondering how it is possible that the pyramids were build as history describes. He doesn't believe it. The reason he doesn't believe it is that he has discovered he has the power to manipulate great, heavy objects such as large stones using his mind only (isn't this classic Telekinesis?).
He goes to visit his grandfather who is a curator at the National Library and Archives. Abu believes that he is descended from Pharaohs. His grandfather tells him he is imagining thing, that he can not lift things with his mind, and that he should keep what he discovered a secret.
That night, Abu is visited in his dream by our Dream Guide, Sanjog Iyer, who tells him about his past, and how it has cost members of his family their lives when they did not keep it secret.
Abu decides when he wakes-up that "Egypt is his destiny".
Overall, this novel felt a bit contrived and forced, and a little hurried. I wished, they had taken some time to develop Abu and not just 7 pages. Yet, I like to see a new character appear.
Still, we know nothing about him, or his motivation, although he appears to hail from a royal lineage. How many more of them are out there? And if this is Telekinesis, could some of them have developed their power WAY BEYOND what Sylar could do?
Ps.... Sorry, because of my pathetic PC, I did not dig for the easter egg..... |

| I'd say he can move objects' matter waves, and strangely enough matter waves are smaller for bigger objects than smaller ones. This would explain his affinity for large objects though not being an expert with his ability. |

Without a doubt, I think it's definitely TK. The title page says: "Abu Aswan has the power to levitate and move extremely heavy objects." Sylar can levitate (with TK). Sylar can also move heavy objects (with TK). No other ability that we've seen allows for personal and non-personal levitation. Telekinesis is a power of the mind, not of the body, so I don't think it matters if someone with TK is actually touching the heavy object or not in order to lift it - the psychological force of telekinesis is still present when the object is lifted/levitated.
The writers are known for repeating powers anyway, and it's about time someone else with TK showed up (whether or not Abu's character matters in the long run). Technically, only Brian Davis had TK, until Sylar stole it from him, and until Peter absorbed it from Sylar.
I'm not expecting much from this set of GN's, especially after the Neuenberg series. The only thing I can guess is that they're introducing Egypt so that it could potentially be used for an expanded international scope of the show. I do, however, like how they incorporated telekinesis into the construction of the pyramids, since to this day it's one of the most incredible feats of the ancient world. |

I have to agree with PK on this one. After all, near the end of this GN we see one of his family that's moving a large block some distance from it. Thus, he's not touching the block, he's moving it with his mind. It's then that the Pharoah screams at him about using their powers in public, and the abuser is stoned to death.
Not a bad GN, but I wonder where it's leading.. |

| I got the feeling this was a self contained story, i.e., there won't be a continuation..... |

| Okay story, but like others I'm wondering where they are going with it. Is it a stand alone story or part of the bigger picture? |

I think Blufyree hit it right on the head but I'm arguing for TK. I think he has TK but hasn't developed it to it's full capability's, hence being able to only lift heavy objects as of now.
I like the story so far. Hopefully it doesn't hit a dead end like they've done a few times before. |
