Peter has the ability to duplicate and retain duplicated abilities.

Sylar has the ability to acquire additional abilities... by eating people's brains... mutants/heroes to be specific.

Claire's parents... no one knows who or where they are. It's unsettling how Claire's foster father is in contact with Sylar. Why does Sylar have the ability to regenerate like Claire does. Probably because Sylar killed Claire's parents, one of them has the same abilities as claire, and Sylar ate their brains and gained regeneration ^^

Sylar is possibly Nikki's husband, DL. Sylar possibly has the power to control Nikki, so Nikki has an alter ego, but then Sylar is simply leading Nikki, and their son to him.

oops time to watch episode 4...
oh... and the boy genius gets to save the world by stopping the nuke in the nick of time... 00:00:01... hehehe

I don't think Peter can actually retain the abilities he taps into. He goes on to say that he can only use them when around the other people with abilities.

sylar and nikki's husband are separate people..

on imdb.com, the actor who plays sylar is simple billed as "mysterious man"

Leonard Roberts (the guy who was Forrest on season 4 of Buffy) is billed on there as DL Hawkins. He hasnt come in to play in the series yet, but in his interviews everywhere it says he's an escaped convict. In episode 2 or 3, when Nikki takes Micah to see his Grandmother aka her husbands mother she calls him by name, D.L.

Also, if Peter has the power to mimic when he is near other people, wouldnt he be the ideal person to fight sylar?

also, check out the preview for next weeks episode at the end of the two minute replay on nbc.com. Hiro tells Peter "this is what you've been waiting for" then later when he ends up in Issac's workshop there is a head on shot of a white eyed Peter painting.
