I think that's a good point! Now that I think about it, it does make sense! I have always believed that Angela's power was mental, and I had a good idea that she had the ability to maybe control people? But this kind of fits in with her whole attitude, and personality, throughout the show. She has always been a very powerful and influential person, this ability to know things about people, and to put things into peoples heads, would kind of feed into that whole scenario!
.... Now, I am beginning to wonder if she is like Sylar or Peter in that she can know and understand the abilities of others, but can do it faster than Sylar (has to open them up to see) or Peter (has to learn to control the ability)...
Peter can also freeze things, has super-hearing, super-memory and can "melt metals" (things acquired from Sylar), yet we haven't seen him manifest them, either.
Peter has also been able to mimic her ability all along. Thus, by your logic, he could have remembered everything by himself by just using that ability on himself. It doesn't explain why he can't remember Adam (which, I get the feeling he will in the next episode, and it will be without the help of Angela) at the end. I think she was necessary for his memory refresher as he now has her memories, not his own.
As was stated by Claude, a lot of Peter's problems stem from the fact that he depends on others for approval and emotional support. Just as most characters have had difficulties in learning to use their abilities, so does Peter, and his biggest barrier has been himself. Eventually, yes, he will have control of what Angela can do and it will give him better control of what he can do (if this theory holds water).
As I said, I initially was on your side, but after thinking about it, some things didn't make sense. My current theory is the best thing I could come up with given what I've seen on the show.
Here are some thoughts based on what you guys have been discussing. At first, I thought that you were discussing generation 1's empath. Remember, we have started seeing duplicate powers, but so far we have not seen the equivalent of Peter's duplicate.
But after giving it some thought, I like where Hatcher and Karin are going with this. What if Angela IS the central FOCUS of the entire "Heroes" Universe? She is not Maximum Potential like Peter, BUT she is the one, that through her emotional and psychic abilities brought together the Original 12? After all she is featured prominently at the end of the GN where Papa Petrelli and Linderman meet.
In the summer, myself and Slippy made a big show discussing Angela's wearing of gloves and the times she was shown taking them OFF and simply TOUCHING PEOPLE, especially her sons. At the time, we thought she might be the Vampire FUSOR. But there might be a simpler explanation now! What if her ability works by touching? Did you see where she had to touch Peter yesterday? Maybe she can control people emotionally by touch, or she can affect some sort of control by touch?
Anyhow, I am just theorizing by what I saw last night, but this seems very likely now....

I like your theory, but how does that tie into her ability to do something like someone from season 1, but be able to get from point A to point B faster? Who else has a similar ability?
I'm still not sure what to think about Angela P.? I think that her power is DEFINATELY mental! But dont you think it's weird that she was still alive in the future, and over 93% of the world had been killed from the virus? Why did she survivie? Does she have some type of ability to heal/protect herself?
You should repost your theory here for the debate to commence in earnest! Great theory!

- He has however manifested the ability to reach out to the people he’s connected with; to experience what they experience, as they experience it. This is why he has insightful dreams about people, particularly his brother. This came from Angela.
SO WHAT HAPPENED?
- Ultimately, it was Peter who regained his memories from his mother.
- His mental and emotional state at that moment, combined with physical proximity to his mother, allowed him to trigger her power within himself (old-school-Peter-style).
- He absorbed his own memories back from Angela, who has been carrying them along with many others.
- I do however believe that Angela chose which memories to return to him – for his benefit. If she allowed him to reabsorb his whole life at once, he would probably go catatonic. So she showed him only what he needed to remember in order to trust and listen to her. She was probably aware that he would be yanked back into his own time any minute.
Afterall, Angela knows everything.
Re: Angela surviving. Good call, Karinbouttheheroes! Now I'm wondering about that too. Maybe someone else has been looking after her.

I would say it ties in with her ability being similar to a few people in season one. Maybe matt for being able to steal from people's minds. Maybe Charlie for having perfect memory (maybe Angela is what Char may have grown to). Maybe Peter for the pure fact that both are empathic - just to different things.
I would also definitely say it allowed her to get from 'a to b' faster. Imagine if you want to know something that happened. First you have to find the person who knows it, then you have to get them to talk to you, then you have to convince them to tell you (the truth), then you have to interpret what they say... Not for Angela tho. If she's already got a lot of people's memories in her head, then she can just think back and remember - whatever she wants to know!

I rewatched OOT last night and noticed that, when talking to Peter before he regained part of his memory, she mentioned he could move things with his mind, heal and paint the future. These are only things he has done since he lost his memory. She did not bring up anything else he can do that he doesn't know about yet. Perhaps Squeaker is right and she did a quick analysis of what has happened since she last saw him and knows what he knows. Interesting.
Well I remember reading a post not too long ago, I'm not sure who wrote it...but they said that a lot of the episodes in S1, Angela was constantly wearing gloves, and when she was with her sons, or other people she cared about, she would touch them a lot. But around others, she would wear gloves, and it looked like, she would do whatever it took, to NOT touch others. So, it makes sense that if she does have this empath ability she needs to touch people to absorb there memories, so that could help explain her cold heartedness, and personality! If she has had this power for so long, it would get excruciating to constantly absorb people's emotions/memories/feelings! And there are so many bad/evil people in the world, she would've over and over had to witness a lot of the evil things people do! Which would lead to her being so cold, and possibly be the reason that she believed the bomb going off in NYC would HELP the world! She has seen the evil inside of people!
