Yeah, I've dropped the Herobase. I couldn't get any interest in it, so I wasn't motivated enough to look deeply into ways of presenting the database.

I'm embarking on a new project, though I'm not gonna link it from here until I get the all clear from superhiro himself. The reason? It *might* be seen as competing with superhiro.org, although that is certainly not my intention.

I'm aiming my idea at quite a small percentage of Heroes fans - ones who enjoy a bit of role play. Yup, that's right, an immersive site for people who like to talk about the show as if the events in it are happening in our world, sort of.

Anyway, if you want to read more about the idea itself, you can check out this post at my blog.

If you have any suggestions as to where I might be able to find like-minded fans or get feedback on the idea, or the site-in-progress, please drop me a line.

superhiro, if you read this post before you get my PM, give me a shout - I'd love to get your input on how I can make sure I avoid looking like I'm competing with yourself or any of the other heroes fansites out there. Oh, and check your PM's more often, lol Smile

Here's an idea: I used to be involved in a Wheel of Time forum where we actually created our own characters, and the posts were written out like continuations of the same story. Does that make sense? People had jobs, positions of power; there were all types from grunts to "gods". A role-playing game in the form of a collaboratively written story. Make any sense?

Now that's interesting. Not entirely sure how I'd make it workable, but it's definitely interesting.

That last post of mine was a bit of a joke really. I suppose everyone is still pretty unclear on the concept of what I'm doing. I think what you suggest might actually lend a little more clarity to what I'm trying to create.

If you've got the time and the inclination, Stoney and you wanna be invovled in the development of the site, PM me and we'll talk. Wink Even if you don't want to get involved, I'm grateful for the idea.

At this rate, I'm gonna end up with something like a fan equivalent of Heroes 360 - only mine will be WAY more immersive than theirs, and the sites will actually be maintained, lol!

Oh, and in response to the two whole votes for free stuff, I've added another freebie to the list - a browser toolbar (for firefox and ie) custom-built for navigating the Heroverse, wherever you are on the web.

Unfortunately, I've been put behind schedule by the interference of Tom Akel at Heroverse.com who's accusing me of trademark infringement, despite the fact that he's in the US and I'm in the UK, where his trademark holds no sway.

I've not succumbed to his demands or threats of legal action, but I have taken the site-in-development offline for the time being. My reasoning for this is that there is now no way the project will be ready for launch by the start of Season 2 of Heroes, and I don't want any new traffic the new season generates to see an unfinished, unworkable site (like Tom's appears to be, lol) and be put off. For that reason, the site and all the freebies will be offline until I'm ready to present a complete and workable heroverse.org to the world.

Trust me, when it comes back, it's gonna be great. The main focus of it will be a forum/email based roleplaying game, driven by the users but managed by the battlebot (which I'm currently developing).
