Hi guys, you may or may not know that I'm attempting to build a Heroes Roleplay & Gaming community - I decided to do so because I wanted to do SOMETHING and I could only find two heroes-related RPG's out there - both of which are somewhat lacking, in my opinion. I wanted to do something a little bit more involved, a little bit more immersive.
Well, the project is coming along nicely, and I'm at a point now where I need to start structuring out the game world.
The style of play I'm conceiving for the site is a semi-automated open-ended/user-driven Forum/Email based system (pbem) which I'm hand-coding in Python. The reason for this is that an email responder uses almost no system resources and bandwidth, so I can conceivably have a couple dozen servers running on one small system without having to fork out masses of cash for bandwidth and hosting.
There will eventually be several aspects to the game - one-on-one battles, team battles, open-ended story roleplay, plus quests and adventures for both in-game organisations and single users. At the moment, the prototype battlebot is a couple of days away from being able to manage one-on-one battles.
Even though I've only recently started learning Python as a programming language, I have no real problem with the coding (unless anyone wants to volunteer, of course). What I DO need, however, is a few people - with a little more RPG experience than I have - to help me work out the rules and command-response structure, map out the world(s) and to help with testing various aspects.
I should add that this is NOT like previous projects of mine. This one's actually coming together on schedule. I can finish the project on my own, but I'd rather have different viewpoints than just mine when it comes to building a playable and interesting game.
Of course, anyone who assists with development and testing gets automatic "insider" status.
Waddya say, guys, wanna help build the best Heroes RPG out there? |
