I can't believe noone'stuff this yet.... What exactly is goin on with Matt Parkman? Future Peter comes back to get his gun in the season opener and Matt confronts him... and the next thing he knows he's waking up in Africa. Then he runs into this mysterious guy (who he at first mistakes for a turtle, lol), and follows him on a "spirit walk" (or whatever he called it). Then we see that this guy has the same power as Isaac Mendez and has painted the future... apparently centered around the actions of one Matt Parkman... since he was a child??
WTF IS UP WITH THIS??? Is this placing Park-Man in the center of everything? Why would this guy have been painting the life of a guy thousands of miles away since he was a child.... and apparently what he painted then isn't the way things are going to turn out now. Future Peter's fault? Probably. And who the heck was Parkman holding in the cover-up of the old, apparently now incorrect, painting?
Okay, HIT ME! I want to know what you all think about this rather interesting turn in the Matt Parkman Experience.
I think this is the turning point for Matt to build all of his paranoia and conspiracy theories.
This is what is going to make him the effective leader of the "hunt squads". His distrust from what Peter did to him is what is going to make him not trust anyone else. This will make him question each and every thing brought to him, and also turn him into the mindless hunter for those who could do that same kind of thing to others.
Thus, we'll get the police officer on crack, and Parkman's never going to be the same after this one.......
You could be right. We've already seen him turning to the Dark Side, like when he manipulated his boss into letting him question Angela again, and then with Angela herself as he forced the answers he wanted from her. Just a couple more little baby steps and he's that hunt squad commander. Even his new friend's new painting was not a promising glimpse into his future.... Every man has his breaking point.....
The only time we have seen the eyes go white is with Issac, Peter, and teh new guy when they were painting, but we have now seen Matt's eyes go white!!! Does that mean he gets some precog ability? I thought he learned how to be like the Nightmare Guy from S2 (his dad, right).
Did anyone happen to catch the cover of the Ninth Wonders that the turtle was walking over? New edition or old one? Are they still in circulation although Isaac is dead?
Saying that Daphne was the dead girl is too easy. I think it is someone entirely different.
Yeah, I dug it when his eyes went white. WTF is on that cd, lol? I also had the thought at the time that maybe Matt was using his own power to inadvertently tap into the power of his new friend... but that may just be crazy. If it is a power of the mind, and another person has it, COULD Matt maybe access it in a limited sort of way with his power (when in proximity, of course)?
9th Wonders mag on the ground: The St. Joan issue maybe? I'll rewatch again and cap it.
As for it being Daphne that Matt's holding in the Future Painting 2.0... well, it did kind of resemble her: petite, same haircut... Matt IS a cop, and Daphne IS a criminal... When I first saw it, I thought of the FBI agent that Parkman staked out Primatech Paper with... she didn't die did she?
Stonegroove... I like the thought you had on Parkman being able to tap into another person's ability when close to them via some mental connection. ( I doubt this is the case however...)
Also, did you notice that the "Paint Guy/Turtle (lol) gave him something to eat to help facilitate? I wonder if this is Mohinder's missing "stabilizer" to his formula????
As for Parkman's true ability, I think his is perhaps evolving beyond his fathers - much like Peters from Arthurs, and that he is tapping into the mental capacity of seeing "all minds". (It has been referred to as the "Collective Super/Supra Conscious". It is a para-psychological theory that has actually been used to explain why certain people may telepathically communicate, share dreams, and also PRE-COG via clairvoyance.) I think the writers are already hinting that Matt's Power hasn't even begun to reach its potential. Imagine tapping into the collective conscious of ALL HUMANITY!
BIG CLUE: All paintings were centered around Park-Man. Remember the one with the world split in half??? Hmmmmmmmmm Something to ponder for sure.
Yeah I did notice the one with the world split in half-- by the symbol that we've come to associate with these supers (a la the hatian's necklace). This whole season is really taking on an apocalyptic tone.....
The picture carrying the girl looked like the speedster chick, short blonde hair, and maybe this event is what tips Parkman.
The white eyes, looked like a drug induced situation. Perhaps the African's ability isn't genetic but drug induced since he seems to have to get down on the dirty powder before he paints.
So the girl in Matt's future whether it can be changed for the good or the bad is Daphne the speedster. Plus he has a baby with her(Daniella) and she is his wife helping raise Molly too. You are right is it Peter's fault that Matt's life changed. It seems almost everytime Peter is trying to do something good he soemtimes just messes it up then has bigger problems to fix.
As far as him falling asleep with his eyes rolled up in his head.., WTF???? I mean the eyes rolling in the head in every season and every episode has signified "about to PAINT" according to the African, all he did was sleep and dream. how is this possible and what the hell did that man give him to eat and what was on that CD he was listening to? Just weird if you ask me.
I've always thought the painting was kind of an incidental thing; like a method inherent in the power it's self to capture the most significant things seen. I mean, Parkman himself said he was "there".
And now we have Daphne being "given" this file by "Linderman", who we now know is just an avatar being used by Maury to manipulate these people (daphne, nathan). So we now have this direct connection between Matt and Daphne; she is being sent to recruit him into whatever cause Arthur Petrelli is working towards.
SO: How is it that in the future we saw Matt was like, wimpy, while Daphne was the apparent goody-two-shoe badass? Matt, a policeman by trade, hooking up with Daphne, the master thief, is wierd enough in it's self, but why was Matt the submissive mommy figure in the whole situation? This is not a sexist statement, btw, just a reversal of Matt's former attitudes, apparently. Like when he yelled at Molly: we've already seen him use his powers to make her do what he wanted her to. Maybe in what's to come he sees so much evil in his father that he tries to not use his power? Or in a world where powers can be given, was his taken away?
OH YEAH: Who exactly is watching Molly? Is she gonna end up in one of Mohinder's coccoons, lol?
Well, Park-man has come home, and guess who's waiting for him? That's right, speedster Daphne. So the Big Trip.... just beginning or come to a close? Just beginning I say. Now Matt Parkman has a new mission: To save the woman he thinks is his soulmate from the eeeevil clutches of Pinehearst. Daphne obviously took a shine to him-- she wouldn't let him go to Arthur's little coven of baddies. But Parkman knows that she is involved with them, and that it will eventually get her killed, so he's gonna do any and everything he can to save the woman he's destined (?) to wed and procreate with.
Oh yeah, isn't it a pain in the ass to get an animal through international customs? Seemed like Parkman had no trouble, lol.
I was thinking the same thing Stonegroove. Was a witch to get my wife's dog from Brazil through!!! Now, start going down the list of "exotic animals" like certain turtles from Africa, and you're talking sheer agony!!! LOL
However, lets assume Parkman used his "jedi mindtrick" on the Customs Agents. NO PROBLEMO !!!! AND VOILA, YOU HAVE AN AFRICAN TORTOISE IN AMERICA.
