unless, like has been said, he didn't do anything to impede the death because he accepted it because hiro told him he was going to die.

Furthermore, Kaito told Angela that he would be going back to Japan that same night. I'm sure that was true at first, but then Hiro came andafter Angela left and teleported with his father. That was the moment Kaito knew that he wasn't going back to Japan that night.
well, kaito actually did go back to japan that night (or years ago), but not in the way that he meant when he told angela that, eheh.
If we never find out in the show, think Tim will explain to us what the 12's powers were in an interview after this season is over? Or will he save it for future seasons? Or just blow us off completely =[
Welcome to the forum, Lej!
I think it will either be saved for future seasons, or we will be blown off unfortunately. I would not accept an explanation of the powers from Kring himself during an interview or anything. I need to see them in action.

i brought this up earlier, but what if he can stop time, slow it down, teleport, but not TIME TRAVEL. it'd be pretty brilliant of the writers to do that if you ask me.
Sorry, Def... I wouldn't buy that at all. If Kaito had a time or space related ability, then I'm sure he would have tried to teleport himself out of there, even if Hiro told him he was destined to die. I also think that if he had a space/time-related ability, he would have had it developed to the max. As we've seen with Adam and Maury, the Original 12 have had the most experience with their abilities than anyone else in the show thus far, and as a result they've brought their powers to the highest levels possible. For Adam, it was immortality, and for Maury it was mind control and nightmares.

"why didnt he just use his ability to save himself" he doesnt mess with destiny, he's kaito..he was "destined" to die so didnt fight him off
"why did he not travel through time" well...he might have developed his ability that much, but just CHOSE not to ever time travel, being kaito...this is believable
He didn't know that was his destiny until after Hiro told him. Time travel can really throw in alot of variables in the equations! Who knows if he knew or not when we saw it the first time, but I think we have to assume he didn't.
Not necessarily - if you assume he didn't know the first time, you'd also have to assume that at some point Tekezo Kensai did all of his great deeds without the interference of Hiro Nakamura - and that just doesn't seem likely considering what we saw in the past.
So if Hiro always was the Kensai of the Legends, then it is entirely possible that Kaito was "destined to die" simply by his own decision that he was "destined to die" - see?
could be that originally kaito did fight back (which we never saw), but was killed and then hiro went back in time to warn kaito and kaito accepted his destined death (the first death we saw), which resets events and when hiro goes back to save his father again (though, with events reset its as though it were the first time) kaito once again accepts his death and doesn't fight back (the second time we see him die, happening exactly as it did the first time we saw him die). so it basically has become a loop.
its kind of like what i've heard mentioned with hiro trying to save charlie. if he had succeeded to save her life in the past, to get her to not go to the diner that day, then hiro would have never met her at the diner and never would have had a reason to go back in time to save her and since he wouldn't go back in time to save her she would still end up going to the diner and dying.
It's similar to Sylar being the original "bomb" and Future Hiro stabbing him, but Sylar regenerating (as per the Graphic Novel). When Future Hiro went back in time to see Peter on the subway, that effectively changed history and made Peter the bomb while Sylar never obtained Claire's ability until five years later.

Care to theorize, I noted on the episode where hi is teaching Hiro, that the reflexion on the Katana was not of his own eyes... is he like Nikki/Jessica?
Is he the Dragon?
if you dont know yet but i know that his power has something to do with a bright light
Alright, so I heard the other day that on the season one dvd, their are some deleted scenes. And in one of those scenes is ando and kiato talking just before he opens up the paper and the helix photo falls out....he then describes his powers as a psychic-type and asks ando how he thinks he(kiato) did so well. If this is true, then he's either a psychic similar to angela, or a time warper like hero. Like i've said before, i believe all the sellingpoint of the show is that things are passed down from the parents, eventually to surpass the parents abilitys.
