| O.k. I'm starting to see a little trend here on the show: Daddy issues. I mean, think about it, Claire has daddy issues, Mohinder-sensei has daddy issues, Sylar (probably had) daddy issues, Peter and Nathan had it too; and now Matt does!! What are your thoughts about this? |

Yeah, it seems to be a reoccurring them. They also use Daddy Issue in LOST as a theme. I'm not sure what significance it has but they all do seem to have issues. Hiro had them as well, although maybe not to the same degree. I don't think we ever found out if Isaac did or not. I would say though, most people, even in the real world will have some sort of Daddy Issues. We'll just have to wait and see where this goes. |

| Don't leave Hiro out. He's got or had some big father issues. Nikki/Jessica had big time father issues. Micah had the same with DL due to his former criminal tendencies. |

I think their mummies (or lack of in some cases) are just as much - if not more - trouble!

What's the best way to ensure that everyone watching can relate to the highest number of characters on the show?
Give ALL the characters the same issues that most of North American people think about: Parents, childhood issues...absentee parent figures resulting in later 'issues'
I think this is great!
With Noah as a dad, we see a parent trying to resolve some issues - he has to 'fess up' with his family about what his job really was in the past...and he's tryin' to keep a 'traditional' family together - mom, dad, brother, sister, pooch, working dad, stayhome mom, etc
Some of the other characters' fathers haven't 'fessed up' or even shown up yet.
I don't think this is 'lack of direction' - I think this is well-though out focus of direction with definite aims at the audience.
With a cast of 'fantastical' characters, doesn't 'familiar' and 'shared' experience help to keep the show 'grounded'? We might scoff, eventually, at some of the 'abilities' and 'actions' the characters exhibit - but as an audience, we are still going to relate to 'father issues' even when a character does the impossible, in my opinion.

Everyone has had SOME kind of issues with their parents - if not, it would be like two siblings who never fight during childhood. Very unusual. I think most of us just learn to resolve them or live with them.
It could be that on Heroes, more people than usual have unresolved father issues. Some things that were on the back burner or partially resolved would have been stirred up when people's powers started putting them in very unusual situations. Niki didn't remember anything bad about her father until Jessica showed up - Niki had a problem with him, but it was dormant until then. Matt was probably not giving his father much thought until he saw him in that photo. Claire wouldn't have been looking for her bio-parents so urgently if she hadn't discovered her power. And so on.
And Angela and Meredith have created issues too, of course. |

| I find it funny that Noah has lied and deceived his family for so long and now Claire is doing the same thing to him! Should be nice to see how this plays out! |

| Having daddy issues is very prominent in America. Maybe they are trying to make it as realistic as possible. |

Perhaps Tim Kring or other writers had father issues? I wouldn't be overly surprised, heck even Spielberg's troubled childhood affected some of his films, eg ET.
Or alternatively it could just be a plot device they've unwittingly used too recurrently |

Maybe the writes had daddy issues....or maybe the fathers all had powers and abondoned thier children for the greater good, which may foreshadow them making the hard choice of the world or their children.... |

| Do you think that they add some personal experience in with the show when they try to get the audience to relate to the character? |
