also to tobias reaper guy...Peter DOES get powers just by simply coming in contact with someone. he's no where NEAR claire when she used her powers to heal at the homecoming stuff. also...he never SAW isaac paint the future, and yet gained that ability. hmm lets see.....yea that puts that to rest (the thing about him having to see the ability to use it)

BUT...i do think peter can only gain a power when sylar has it "on" aka i think sylar is really familiar with telekenesis and uses that primarily, therefore thats the only one he got from sylar. if sylar used his other powers near peter, im sure he'd gain them....that being said..
I thought that Sylar was using his other powers... super hearing to detect invisible Peter to hit him with the shards of glass.
So... if SYLAR brained ate Peter will he get only his mimicking powers or will he gain all of Peter's collected powers.
Sylar may have been using hearing to find Peter, but I doubt it. If he had, he could have PK'd Peter against the wall again or thrown ALL the glass directly at him. And notice he was facing away when he saw one shard of glass stopped in mid-air. Sylar sent out a fan of glass to kill Peter and it worked (albeit temporarily.)
oh yea, i dont think peter has sylars "know how it works" ability, sylar never used it in front of peter....or had it "active" (aka where u have it active, but not necessarily use it at that time)
that being said...hiro= gives peter the scar (spoiler!) sorry.....(j/k, im just assuming) but yea, im going with a 90% chance peter gets it from hiro
1st, I think Sylar's original ability is always on. So Peter would have it. I also think a power doesn't have to be in use for Peter to mimic it. It's like all the heroes are radio stations and Peter's abilities automatically pick up the signal when he's in proximity to them.
2nd, not only why, but how would Hiro give Peter the scar? We just watched Peter heal from Sylar trying to slice his skull open.
i think the sword= special or maybe hiro stabs him while time is frozen, not sure quite yet, but yea, im thinking the gash= the size of a sword going right into him

It's a bit of a tricky thing to explain, an example of Peter being able to absorb powers that aren't activated is how he gets Nathan's power. Peter got it the first time because of Nathan using it to try and save him, but the second time, he seems to use it without it being activated by Nathan. I suppose it means that he must have been able to use it the second time because he felt a certain way when he was talking to Nathan, and that allowed him to use the ability again.
Anyway, re Peter and Sylar, you'd think that Peter would absorb all of Sylar's powers, but he doesn't appear to. This clearly points to him not being able to get powers that are not in use. However (as in the case of Nathan), he only has to be exposed to the power once to be able to use it as much as he likes. So, he picks up Sylar's TK and probably his hearing as well (you'd think).
my entire point is.....there are 2 things, powers that are in use, powers that are "active/on" but not in use
peter got nathan's power without seeing nathan use it, as well as claire's ability without her using it in front of him....these are the powers that are active/on but not in use....he gets sylar's TK because its sylar's "active" power at the time, if sylar used a different power, im sure peter would gain it.

I see what you're saying there, but the thing is that Peter did see Nathan use his power, at the end of episode 1, that's how he gets it. As for Claire's power, that was also active around Peter, when she healed after Sylar's attack. Still, I see your point, if he can only absorb one power at a time, then he would only get TK from Sylar. However, I was thinking that he should be able to absorb multiple active powers at a time, which means he would have gotten more than the TK. It's hard to say, since Sylar is the only one with multiple powers.
Nathan said that Peter's death wasnt suppose to happen like that! So if Ma Petrelli can see into the future, then she knows the future can change. However, the "spitting up bullets" may have been a 'typo' meaning that it is illogical for her to know that and not know that Peter could/would be saved.
Could someone please explain the conversation that Hiro and Ando had about the "brain man"? When Ando said "Im confused" I was too. I am assuming that "brain man" = Sylar, but he wasnt caught in Hiro's time, or if Hiro knows he was caught then he didnt know he escaped.
Also, was the timeline made by Sylar or Future Hiro? Was Sylar painting in Isaacs studio or elsewhere? Did anyone else notice that Present Hiro lowered his sword, but Future Hiro did not? Also, FH really did not seem happy to see himself... almost like he blamed himself for the whole mess!
Also... The explosion happens and we see what the future would be like. I am betting that by the end of the season, the explosion does not happen and Season Two shows the new future.
No, the "spitting up bullets" makes sense. Ma Petrelli is being fed info by the Haitian. I'm thinking when he removes memories, he can see them. He saw Claire spitting up Matt's bullet when he removed HRG's memories of her escape. Then he must have briefed her on what happened after Claire gave him the slip.
I forget who, but one of the other heroes (Peter?) told Hiro that Sylar had been captured. Hiro didn't know that Sylar had subsequently escaped
Isaac painted the portrait of Nathan in Isaac's studio, but he had to stay on the move. The intricate timeline must have been made by Hiro. Sylar wouldn't write "Save the cheerleader."
Probably two reasons Future Hiro wasn't happier to see his earlier self: 1. He's a little tightly wound. He's probably not happy to see anyone. 2. Hiro - while cool - is admittedly kind of geeky. To Future Hiro, it would be like looking at old pictures of himself with a mullet and bell bottom jeans. He may also be put off by Hiro's relative innocence...and seeing just how much events have changed him.
Right now, the only real change is that the explodee has changed: Peter instead of Sylar. Of the 3 people who could explode, I doubt it's Ted. He seems to be gaining control of his abilities. Unless Sylar gets him, it's not Sylar. So right now, Peter seems to be the threat. But you're right. I don't think Peter will explode.

sylar gaining isaac's power stops the bomb and/or kills sylar because ...thats what isaac's role is. he "gets to be a hero" by giving up his power to sylar.
OH YEA AND THE VOICE= ITS OWN INTRO THINGY. the person that does the voice (aka the scary one sylar uses once or twice) has its own CREDIT thingy in the beginning of the episode....this HAS To be a hint of things to come...right!?!
No, he was addressing Hiro. He was looking right at him. Ando was off to the side...doing a good job of covering Future Hiro with his gun.
As far as Nathan, I get the impression he was genuinely tron up that his brother had died. The "not like this" part was due to his believing Linderman. Now later, when he finds out Peter can regenerate, you can tell he's toying with the idea of his brother blowing up as long as he can reform.

peter could still be the bomb. ted is able to surveve his own abilaty and cant harm himself so if peter mimiked his ablilty and couldnt controle it he could explode and then live on to meet up with future hiro later

Acquiring powers thru proximity is how Peter's ability works. He got Claire's powers, but she wasn't using them at the school any time when he was around her. He probably got Charlie's power without even knowing it. He's got all the powers Sylar stole (but doesn't know it for the most part.
As far as how he accesses his abilities, Peter needs to remember the person and his feelings because that's a crutch for him to use his abilities. It aids in focusing. It's the same way Sylar normally uses hand gestures when he's using his telekinesis (although he did stop Suresh's bullet while he was tied down.) Eventually, Peter may be able to access all of his abilities just by focusing on the ability.
To put a wrench in your 'Peter gaining abilities' argument:
Claire's ability is always active. When she hurts herself, her body heals. Thus, when she's around Peter, his power of mimicry can detect this, and mimics the power.
Sylar, on the other hand, has just one power that is reverted to. TK. I have yet to see Sylar use any other power around Peter. Since he hadn't used his hearing, or the liquify solids, or the freeze power, I'd have to say those are powers Sylar has kept to himself.

Exactly. Neither one can technically win. Therefore, Sylar and Peter are pretty much invincible. That future doesn't seem like it's going to end well. Now that Sylar has Claire's ability, he's become unstoppable, like Peter. Hiro would have to kill Peter to stop the future from happening, but he can't, since Peter has Claire's ability. So, my theory is that all Hiro has to do is stop Peter from meeting Ted. Problem solved.

I realise that I'm a little late replying to this, but in Australia we are only up to this episode ... and I refuse to read the threads on later episodes until I have watched the episode currently screening in Aus! Adding to a post 5 weeks late is a bit useless so up until now I haven't bothered, but I thought I would have a go on this one.

Future Hiro could have (and would have?) given Peter a scar in the 1st timeloop because Peter would have never met Claire. (FH only gave the "save the cheerleader, save the world" message to Peter in the 2nd timeloop). So if Peter does not self-heal, his scalp-wound from Sylar would have remained, and healed as a scar. Thus, the Peter that Future Hiro knows in the 1st timeloop time would have a scar.
