LMAO; yeah, they could get the former Doctor to play an invisible man, but couldn't pay the licensing to mention Doctor Who in the show?
As for Hiro; it seems like he's sort of had delusions of grandeur from the start. He had all these grand notions of being a Superhiro (hardee har har) which, toward the end of season one, were definitely smashed into little bits on the floor of "reality". One thing that still irks me about Hiro's story in season one is that miraculous single day in which his father taught him to use a sword. Noone picks up the sword that quickly. Yes, Hiro'd had it for a while, but he'd never had any practical usage or any teaching in it's use. I don't care how badass his father is with the sword: nobody learns to use it well enough to actually USE it in ONE FRIGGIN DAY. There was no implication that his time-manipulation power was used in this miraculous training session, either, so don't come back at me with that . . .
...he'd never had any practical usage or any teaching in it's use. . .
We don't know that for sure. However, I tend to agree with you that not much technique could have been imparted in that length of time, so therefore I agree with Herc that the session was more about psychological preparedness. I guess I'm unusually agreeable today.
I could also point out that maybe Kaito's power was used in teaching Hiro. After all, we don't have anything at all about what Kaito's ability is. Maybe it's accelerated learning, or something to that effect. When he teaches, the student learns at an extremely rapid rate....
Not saying that I disagree with you Stone. In fact, that was one of my pet peeves as well.. But the possibility is there..

i just can't agree ..
his powers may really be that kind ..
he teaches and the student learns rapidly fast ..
even if hiro got the skills in sword, he still cannot learn things that fast in hours..
diamonds as well needs to be polish right??
so there, that may be really kaito's abilities ..
teaching doesn't even make him sweat right ..
maybe, but perhaps we must not also rule out the possibility that Hiro might have been playing around with time to actually learn how to sword-fight. Remember when he stopped the time to save Micah and his dad? He might used the same technique to learn sword-fight
Remember when Hiro slowed time down (way down) in the museum? I wonder if that looked like that to the observer, but it looks different to Hiro, and whoever else he slows down time for?
I wonder if in "Generations" (Volume 2) we'll find out that this is an outgrowth of Hiro's teleporting/time-jumping ability, AND I wonder if this is the technique he used?

If Hiro slowed down time for his dad, this would be the first time we've seen him slow down or stop time for someone besides himself. Peter is the only person so far who has stayed in Hiro's frame of reference when Hiro stops time.
I've pondered what would be a power which Sylar wouldn't want to take, something that would be completely useless in a fight. A teaching power like was suggested for Kaito is one of the few I could come up with. Of course, that's assuming that Sylar wouldn't want to collect them all just to have a complete set.

The main slogan is to 'save the cheerleader, save the world'. however when Hiro accidently time travels into the future and meets his future self, future Hiri says that he stabbed Syler once but he regenerated and so therefore has focused on passing on the 'save the cheerleader' message into the past: saving Clare would save the world. BUT then later we see Syler, disguised as Nathen in his office , kill Clare, saying that he had been waiting a long time for this moment. How can he kill her again??so why did future Hiro say that?Am i missing something or is this a writing blunder??
about the sylar killing claire in the future..if u search the forums for "loops" u will find there are basically (prolly more though) 3 loops (timelines) in the hiros (heroes) show..
loop 1- the loop where hiro alone tries to save NY after seeing the bomb explode...he DOESNT tell peter on the subway to save the cheerleader...sylar kills her, gets her power, and eventually hiro tries to stab him, he regenerates, then blows up...ando dies
loop2- is the loop we see in 5 years gone (the future episode) basically...claire lives...this is the timeline of what happens AFTER peters saves the cheerleader...BUT..this is a timeline where hiro wasnt in the past to killsylar...peter is the bomb ...this gets erased though because hiro and ando go back to the present
loop3- the present day..the last 2 eps of the season...its everything we've watched kinda...its what happens when hiro and ando ARE in the present, thus effect the future...
(lots of loop holes though like...if in 5 years gone, hiro isnt around to kill sylar, how did ando die? he's with hiro in the future...he's not "IN" new york went peter goes boom)
also...i think in loop 1, ando dies by sylar's hand, this is the comic future hiro has...in loop 2, he dies in the explosion (thats what peter says anyway)
I guess we're a bit behind with the transmission times in in Europe- no one seems to read these posts anymore!
Actually, we still read them -- the forum has been a bit dead due to the summer holidays and such. Plus, I've been in a blah kind of mood... I would have replied otherwise, I would, I promise....
Sorry, I just got back from a mini-vacation, so I'm catching up. Well, the main reason that Sylar can "re-kill" Claire in Five Years Gone is this:
Future Hiro was able to change his present reality when he went back to warn Peter Petrelli. Because of this action, he still had knowledge of what his time was going to be like, and he didn't know how it was going to turn out. Not until the Hiro we know went into the future and met Future Hiro. Once he was told that Claire still lived, he knew that Sylar could still be stopped. However, some major plot points had to be 'tweaked'. Now, even thought Future Hiro remembers Sylar being the exploding man, we see that it was Peter Petrelli who blew up NYC. Sylar gained a different ability, and used it to gain more power, and better control over everything he saw.
So, just because Future Hiro was able to save Claire in the past doesn't mean that she's going to be safe at any other point in time, either. It could very well have been that in the time between when Peter saved her at Homecoming that she could have been taken by Sylar between then and Five Years Gone as well..
The Time Paradox is always going to be one that is going to be really difficult to explain or even reason out. We'll just have to trust what the writers decide. After all, if you look on "The Nitpick Thread" you'll see that there are quite a few things that folks really didn't like about episode 20. I don't think it really helped the story much at all, I think it just really muddied the water.
