my co-worker was telling me that he read (on some forum i guess) that microsoft is already drawing up plans for the next xbox. i personally dont think its true, nor should it be. they should be concentrating on the current.

The R&D for the 360 was going on PRIOR to the release of the x-box...

Same is true today, it STILL won't be released for 4 more years (need to recoup 360 monies roll

i agree with snacksupreme, its just like the Dreamcast, it came out a year or so before the ps2 and stuff and it failed. the dreamcast was a good system. the 360 is only gonna last because microsoft is rich and Halo, which on a side note is tottaly over-rated

I wasn't really thrilled about none of these systems, save the Wii.
The reason the playstation2 brought such a rush was because it was a big advancment. The Xbox360 brought a few gimmicks, more eye candy, but nothing you still couldn't get from anything else.

(Bit off topic, but the Wii is by far the most sucessful of the new gen systems thus far)

At the moment the stats on sales are all wrong and appear skewed. Sony had a fanbase 5 times larger than microsoft with the PS2 so it still has a long way to go. The european market is getting a completely different setup form the US and Japan with backward compatibility not 100% its all stats at the end of the day.

Love the 360 its so easy to pick up and play and annoy your mates from time to time. Nice one Microsoft!
