I'm pretty sure Sylar deosn't have this after Hiro changesd the timeline when he went back to save Charlie. Charlie I think ended up dying from a brain tumor.
Sylar would not have needed "the list" if he had this ability when he was with Mohinder in his apartment.
Welcome!
He still has Charlie's power. Look at the GN "Roadkill" for proof.
Hiro never really managed to change the future in that scenario.. The revelation of her blood clot simply meant that Charlie was meant to die anyway, and Hiro couldn't save her. Sylar still attacked her.
Posted: Tue Nov 27, 2007 8:07 pm Post subject: My Sylar Theory
Okay, so here's my theory about Sylar. I wasn't too sure where to post this, as the theories section is only for theories about the future of the storyline, so I came to a decision and posted it here.
Sylar describes the evolved humans as being ‘broken’. I have read many people on various places on the Internet wondering why, and I think I have the answer.
Sylar’s intuitive aptitude allows him to see how things work, so I think he can see how evolution works too, and he knows that the end result will be a race with all the powers. So he set about trying to ‘fix’ this new race, as it were.
Everyone’s brains restructure, build new bridges across the mind like a spider working on a web when we encounter something new. But Sylar’s intuitive aptitude could make this happen a whole lot faster, as he knows how the thing works just by looking at it. This may be what allows him to take people’s powers when he eats their brains, and his ability to know how things work explains how he learns to control his new powers quickly, even quicker than the original owners of the powers could.
Now im struggling to understand this bit.
What exactly is Sylars power? All i've ever seen him do is pinch other peoples abilities I mean don't get me wrong he is nails and it is a really good ability but what is it and what's with chopping the top of peoples heads off?
His true ability has been dubbed "Intuitive Aptitude". Basically, he inately knows how things work. That was why he was so good at fixing watches - he could literally see/hear/feel exactly what was wrong with it and exactly what was needed to fix it.
As best as I understand it, he applies this ability when he does whatever it is he does with the brains of other special people. (Eats them, examines them, plays hackey-sack with them - who knows?) His ability allows him to see how their ability works, and somehow alter himself to allow him to do the same thing (and typically have more control over it fairly quickly).
Most likely, he either modifies his DNA to grant him the ability, or he simply learns how to use his already-special DNA-enhanced mind/body in a new way.
I believe the "reason" he does it is that he sees all the other supers as being 'broken', probably relating to his first harvesting (the tk guy) where the guy said something to the effect of "Can u make it stop?". At least, that's how it started. Now it's honestly just a lust for power, to be the most special, the most badass, and to eliminate the competition. He is the predator in this new evolutionary step, whereas the other supers are his prey. WHAT I WANNA KNOW IS WHY HE WAS HANGING WITH MAMA PETRELLI IN THAT PREVIEW!!!!!!
Now that is a very good Question. We are all aware that Mama Petrelli knows more than she's putting out. I belive that she is somehow connected to the initial creation of sylar's mental state and knows exactly how and why he is so insane.
A good theory is that she is connected to all of the hero's somehow, who knows she probably chose their powers for them?
Yeah, Mama Petrelli is definitely and has definitely been a real Wild Card in this series.... Who knows what part she's played in the past? One minute, we feel sorry for the poor widow.. then she freaks us out with her alliance w/ Linderman and manipulation of Nathan... her mysterious alliance with the currently M.I.A. Hatian.... and now she's rolling with Sylar?? JUST WHO THE HELL IS THIS LADY??? AND WHAT EXACTLY IS HER CONNECTION TO SYLAR?? Was she involved in saving him that fateful night in Kirby Plaza?
I believe he did. He seemd to have heard Noah & Claire's discussion with the vortex guy about getting rid of him, even though he was a long way off.
And concerning Peter, I think he actually has to know about a power, or discover it through an accidental use, in order to realise he has it. For example, he quickly learned how to use and control TK, Invisibility and Flight once he understood his own power (thanks to Claude), and he had seen all of those in action. However, he also accidentally learned how to mimic Invisibility just by being near Claude, and Phasing just by really wanting to get out of his ropes (when his memory was erased). If he is completely unaware of the hearing thing, he may not know about it, and it may not bubble to the surface unless, for example, he's really trying to hear a conversation that is just out of earshot.
yep you're right. HRG wouldn't even know about Sylar's hearing as Dale wasn't on the company radar I don't think, but identified through Chandra Suresh's Human Genome Project. Otherwise there is no way that he would have approached the situation with the vortex dude like he did.
