I don't think Sylar "eats the brains" so to say, I think he checks their wiring, much like how he figured out the intricasies of the 1917 watch. It wasn't by accident that he mentioned that he had been working on it for 7 years. All of the little pieces and springs and such take alot of patience to reconfigure to make a watch work.
The same way he could tellthe watch was broken is the same way he can figure out in an abnormal brain waht is different in a normal brain.
There is a reason why he wears that hat. I think he takes home the brain and possibly rewires himself. I may be far off the mark, far far off the mark, but it seems plausible to me. What better way to hide a scar on your head, than with a hat.
GREAT THINKING HERCULES 67 !!
ARE YOU ONE OF THE WRITERS ?
I totally agree with your theory. Does anyone know when will we have new eps ? monday jan 1 ?

GOOD CALL CAUSE I KNOW I WOULDNT WANT TO EAT ANY BRAINS!

But there weren't any big bloody scars on his head when he moved the cup in Chandra's apartment... I think he wears the hat just to hide his features. Unless he can do it mentally. Maybe he reorginizes his brain depending on what power he wants, if we still don't like the eating brains theory. Personaly, I think he absorbs them one way or another.
charlie only had a blood clot? well i was thinking of some infectious (sp?) disease, i think he told hiro to nto get too close?, and if sylar eats her brains or maybe take teh special part and injects it maybe he gets the disease also, that way he will die slowly.....
Sylar knew how to take Brian's abilities already. I got the feeling that the reason why Sylar is so good at fixing watches is because he took the ability from his father. I like the idea about him rewiring himself, it sounds much cooler than him eating brains.
i too agree that sylar kind of understands immediately how things work , then practice changes on himself.
i'm so glad to be wrong by the way, i thought sylar was being mind-controlled.
i love how the show keeps on surprising me, i did not see the sick-in-the-brain -charlie stuff coming at all !
Might Nathan's wife remember Nathan flying (just not saying anything)??
How about Matt remembering Eden nest time he sees her??
Looks like the Jessica thing has been going on for a LOOOOOOOOONG time.
Sylar. I think he kills the people, looks at their brain to see how they work, and then alters his own brain to "copy" their power.
Mr. Bennet: Wow. He knew about powers BEFORE Suresh called him. Who does he work for (or what organization does he run)? Why does he want his daughter off Suresh's list?

I agree with you on jessica's story being too long. I did read somewhere that the writers will start focusing on her role on the next couple of episodes. I personally am not interested in it as much as the others.
I agree with sylar looking at how the brain works and alters his own. That is probably why the bain is missing, he brings it home and looks at it. Maybe we can find clues when we check out the episode in his apartment.
THought the same thing about Nathan flying. I actually started laughing at that.
Mr. Bennet is the man. Im more curious to see if he has powers.
I don't think its possible for Sylar to map his own brain... or for that matter remove his brain an make adjustments...
Its more a matter of consumption... he HAS to eat them, it wouldn't make sence if he didn't. he's not a machine so "re wireing " isn't in the equasion. think back to a little movie called Ravenious. Its a bout a group of fellas who eat people and from the eating gain power usually physically it also granted them long life. to look at nature, Flamingos are pink because of a certian shrimp they eat that lives in very saly water. the combo of the shrimp and the salt water turn their feathers pink... without it they are bland brown. Also Monarch Butterflies. the catapelers eat milkweed which is a mild poison when consumed by other animals. it makes them tast aweful and gives what ever eats one of them a bad belly ache this toxin carries over to the adult butterfly and stays within their system as long as they live.
Also where is he keeping his vast collection of brains if he's not eating them? He has to eat them. It is also a sign of superiority. He thinks he supposed to be greater than anyone. How better to express that something is lower than you than by eating it. You are my food, I rule you... muahhahahahahah...
he's just a guy that didnt get enough attention/recognition growing up. kinda like peter he feels as if he was meant for something bigger. he wanted to be important. im not sure how eating other people's brains and taking their powers will make him important but who knows. maybe it's like hey this brian davis doesnt want to embrace his specialness so i'll just make better use of it. i still think sylar deserves a spanking. i wonder at what point suresh starts calling him sylar.
on another note, i can see why nathan shuns his ability. he feels terribly guilty about the accident, flying away and leaving his wife in the car.
We're getting offtopic here. There's a thread over in Spoilers & Theories for discussing the possibilites of how Sylar gets his first power and what he does with the brains:

Retract what i posted, cos it may have been off topic...
Re-posted it elsewhere....
But i must say seeing the 6 months ago does go behind the psyche of sylar and well, it is no longer an ominous presence but a deluded person, so i think that makes it so much more realatable, like he could be anyone, anyone of the heroes given the right stimulus would fall into this behaviour...
I watched episode 10 and I have question in my mind.. Could anybody please help to clarify me...
Hiro try to goes back in the past about six months ago. That should mean Charlie should have been met Hiro before in the past six months before Hiro and Ando go to the cafeteria ??
But I re-watch the episode 8 again, I feel like Charlie never mention or has any gesture like she had been met Hiro before.. This is such a strange... ?!?
