So Bond is indeed back. Just got back from it. It was pretty much awsome melted down and stirred into a vat of essence of sweetness. Wicked sweetness. Then it was purified with the tears of a thousand angles. Then put on a big screen. That's what it was like.
I'm not gonna go into the details of the plot, but here's the basic deal. Bond's a brand new double o agent. He's tracking a terrorist organization. One guy in it sets up this poker game to win a frag load of money to give to other organizations. Bond enters the game. Yadda yadda yadda. Now I go into the awsomeness of it.
Bond chases a bomber across an entire town where both of them gain ninja like abilities to leap incredible distances through a construction site. Bond also drives a bulldozer through several things in order to catch up. Bond inspiers several members of the poker game to start drinking his signiture drink, which he decides to name. Bond breaks into M's house, finds out her personal phone number, and logs onto the MI6 website with her username and password. Bond wins a car in a poker game. Bond's opposite bleeds from his eye. Bond has balls of not steel, but titanium.
Bond's opposite scratches said titanium balls. (Those last two parts might need to be censored, but I need to say it anyway :p ) Bond's last fight takes place inside a building as it sinks into a river.
The last bit I mention was, to me, the funniest part ever. Bond is at an airport chasing a terrorist. He calls MI6 (the British FBI/CIA) to tell them. The MI6 agent and the head of MI6 Google the name of the airport to find out what the terrorist could be up to. Google. The agency in charge of Britain's secrecy uses Google. Does this mean the FBI uses Wikipedia to find out the latest threats? I think so.
So go see this movie. Bond die-hard's may be a bit displeased, but the average guy will love it. The average girl on this sight probably will, but me and my buds decided no girlfriends on this one. So go see it.

Comforting to know they don't actually have any kind of INTERNAL database they would reference for suspected terrorists.
Thanks for the review, I was wondering if this was any good. I'm not a huge Bond fan but this sounds like it's a good ride.
My wife and I just came from seeing the new Bond, and we really liked it.
The movie did without some of the traditional Bond ingredients, and that actually made it refreshing and surprising. Daniel Craig was excellent as Bond, and the plot had some good plot twists and action scenes. Definitely worth seeing,
My mom's big into reading reviews for movies before she sees them and from what I've seen they're good. I really want to go see it...maybe I will...no, not tomorrow...hm, when? Ah well.
So, in your opinion, was Craig the best Bond yet? Or, as they said in a different review, the best Bond since Connery? Personally I don't think Sean Connery is very attractive, and Roger Moore definitely isn't. My two fav Bonds so far are Timothy Dalton (love him in Jane Eyre) and Pierce Brosnan. But, then again, I haven't seen Daniel at work yet...
I have not seen the new Casino Royale yet---but I will. Personally, Sean Connery made the best Bond, but from the previews I like this guy's chances of moving into 2nd place on the Bond list.

Craig could even be better than Connery.
In the day and a half since I've seen the movie, though, I'm missing the puns - which are almost absent from Casino Royale - more than I thought I would. I wrote a blog and put out a new podcast episode about the loss of puns - "The Man Without the Golden Pun" - at least that made me feel better.
No puns, what will we do?! That's what makes up the essence of Bond: the gun, the girls, and the puns! Or maybe he just doesn't develop his ability for witty one-liners until later on in his career...
Ok, well I just got back from the Bond movie and I have to say that I was impressed. I've seen all the Bond movies to date and given the last few I really wasn't expecting much. I'd heard some bad things about the new actor and I didn't think much of any of the Pierce Brosnan films. This film however had me pleasantly surprised. So much so that I felt the need to sign on specifically to share my thoughts on the film.
First of all, the story. It was a classic Bond story with a twist. I don't want to give anything away so I won't go into details but I will tell you some of the things I liked about the plot structure. First, the thing I liked most was how it set up the rest of the Bond films. Coming in 40 years after the fact they managed to create a Bond prequel that gives his character added depth for not just this Film but all the others as well. I think that's quite an accomplishment. Though the plot was at times a tad predictable it was still a joy to watch it unfold.
Second, the Bond girl. This girl was my favourite Bond girl yet. She was pretty without being skanky or obvious (although my male friends tell me she was hot). Added to that she was one of the only Bond girls who actually had some brains. Her character had depth and a story of her own and was truly likable.
Now, the most important part, Bond himself. I think that Daniel Craig made an absolutely amazing Bond. Like I said I'd heard some bad things and really wasn't expecting much but he managed to blow me off my feet. He was a little different than the previous Bond, more hands on, but he still had the sophistication and charm of his predecessors. He is the first Bond who actually looks like he has the body to pull off some of the stunts that seem to come with his job.
While I don't think it's possible to beat Sean Connery out for best Bond, I honestly have to say that Daniel Craig is an amazingly close second. I really hope to see him in future Bond films (there will be more right?). Also, this film had as much eye candy for the girls as for the guys . Bond has gorgeous eyes. So there ya have it, a woman's perspective on the matter.

I like Lazenby, but for me Ilike Connery of the guys who have played Bond. Unfortunately, Roger Moore starred in the first Bond film I ever saw. I thought it was great until I saw Connery play Bond in some earlier films.
George Lazenby really got an unfair shake in the Bond franchise,
I feel he was teribly underrated.
But to be perfectly honest I must agree with you Byd
and say that Connery was the best.
